When I was three I had a vesicoureteral reflux and I needed bilateral ureteral reimplantations. When I was five my grandfather became very ill and was bedridden. When I was eleven my mother dissected her carotid artery. In each of these situations I was left in the dark and was given no explanation of why or what was happening. The feeling of having a loved one suffer before your eyes or even the emotions you feel when something is wrong with yourself can be very difficult; but what makes it worse is when you are given no comfort or knowledge of what is happening. I want to be a nurse so that I can prevent this uncertainty and give people the help, care, comfort, and peace of mind that nurses didn’t give to me. Growing up I was frequently surrounded by nurses. My mother was a nurse at several different companies and I spent a lot of time in her office while she was working. Being surrounded by the nursing field throughout my life has given me a sense of comfort and made my choice of becoming a nurse clear. I feel confident that in the pursuit of my nursing degree I will have the determination to complete the classroom work and activities required to become a nurse. I also know that my ability to work well in …show more content…
I was able to witness nurses who loved not only their jobs but also their patients; but I also noticed others who were there only because they were well paid. Seeing the differences between these two types of nurses and the many experiences I’ve had with them in hospitals throughout my life has showed me exactly what kind of nurse I would like to be. They showed me that I want to be the kind of nurse who shows compassion for her patients and their families. I want nursing to be so much more than just a job. With all of the influences I’ve witnessed over the years I know that nursing is something I can truly excel in. I have a passion for it and am ready to jump into God’s plan for my
One of the reasons why I have decided on this career path is my willingness to work directly with people. I realize that nursing requires full dedication, as it is a profession for the whole life. That is why it was decided that the Nursing Degree at Georgia Southwestern State University would equip me with all necessary skills and knowledge on my way to become a professional nurse. I consider the abilities to show compassions, make autonomous decisions and support the diverse needs of individuals are among the biggest challenges in the nursing sector. In addition, there are some outer challenges as budget cuts and growing workload for nurses at hospitals and care centers.
My childhood initiated a desire to help prevent and mitigate injury or illness; this soon flourished into an interest in the health care field. To help narrow my choices I explored as many science courses as I could. Talking with health care professionals and reading nursing textbooks I found in my aunt’s house piqued my interest in the nursing field and patient care. From there, I completed a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course which further solidified my decision. Now, I am fully invested in becoming a nurse.
There are about 205,000 people who work as a nurse practitioner in the US. I do not know about you, but I would like to make the number increase up to 205,001. For many young girls, like myself, want to help save lives and we don’t even have to save their life but just help them. This is why a nurse practitioner would be the best job too have. They don’t do major surgeries or anything like that but they do help just enough to keep someone healthy.

As a child growing up, there are many things that one usually aspires to be. However, many factors influence one’s choices. The most influential factor that led me to pursue a career in nursing was the time I spent caring for my grandmother, who was diagnosed with cancer. As I contemplated what to write, emotions ran high as I reflected on my past and recalled seeing my grandmother struggle during her illness. The pain and suffering she endured drove me to enter the healthcare field.
My Intent to Be a Nurse Practitioner Coming from a third world country where there aren’t many opportunities for work and funding for education, proceding to nursing school was a grand opportunity. The privilege to attend a government subsidized school where top students in the region compete to get into the program that allowed only 60 students per year was indeed a blessing. As clinical rotations began, what was once considered a mere opportunity evolved into a true passion for caring as I truly love and enjoy nursing and helping people.

Ever since I have known myself, I have always wanted to become a nurse. A hardship that has made me stronger is, after my first semester in the pre-nursing

Ever since the age of three, I knew I wanted to pursue nursing. The fateful day that led me on the course I’ve been pursuing for nearly seventeen years occurred when my grandmother took me to her appointment to get blood drawn; the nurse practioner drawing blood for my grandmother saw that I was curious and concerned and took the time to tell me what she was doing. After she had finished drawing blood, I noticed that my grandmother was bleeding down her arm and onto her yellow shirt and made it a mission to find the nurse and tell her. Upon me finding her and notifying her of my observation, she told me that I should be a nurse when I grow up since I was so interested and observant. Ever since then I noticed and aspired to be like the many
It is an honorable and humbling career that I am passionate about doing the rest of my life. Nurses are the healthcare professionals most intertwined with patient care, giving the important role of caregiver, teacher, and continuous student. Everyday brings a new opportunity and
I’ve always wanted to become a Nurse because I believe I was meant to be a healer. All throughout my life I’ve been exposed to a wide variety of diagnosis in my family. The ones that had a direct effect on me was drug addiction and mental health disorders. Seeing my loved ones deteriorate right in front of me pushed me into the Nursing career. I want to promote prominent health changes in my community.
As a nursing student, I have a grasp on what nursing is through textbooks and lectures. The more I learn about this profession, the more I learn about what my philosophy is. Although I haven’t gained clinical experience as a nurse, I have gained some clinical experience as a nurse assistant that helps me administer patient care while acquiring knowledge working under the supervision of nurses. This experience helps me to become knowledgeable on what their roles and responsibilities are, and it has inspired me that I hope when I graduate, to equal their skill, diligence and passion.
