Every little girl plays with her mothers makeup. I used to watch my mother and sisters do their makeup every morning, and I would sit in front of a mirror and try to imitate their actions. As soon as I could walk, I was getting into their makeup. This continued for years until I bought my own materials to gain more experience and expand my creativity. I would use my imagination that makeup brought, and I would test different designs on my friends and family. It intrigued me that there was self expression in its own art form, and that I too could obtain these abilities one day. Even more so, I could make a career from my interests. I could share the skills that I learned from years experience, and I could enhance my client´s features. I believe …show more content…

The career that fascinates me and what I plan to be when Im older, is a Dental Hygienist. A dental hygienist is a stressful job, but it helps a lot of people. You are helping people get better teeth and even look better, because when people have straight pretty teeth, they seem to have an upgrade in their looks. I haven’t always wanted to be a dental hygienist, I had many other career choices. But, something about making people smile when I’m the reason they look good doing it makes me happy.
Equally important, being a cosmetologist does not pay as good as other jobs can, but if it’s something they love they should stick with it. The salary for a cosmetologist matters on where they live, if they live in a small city they would make less money than people living in a bigger city because of the population. The level of experience makes huge matter on a cosmetologist’s salary, longer they’ve worked the more their salary will increase. When being a cosmetologist their hours are mostly flexible, so most cosmetologist choose part-time over full-time. Cosmetologist that work at salons get hourly payed, and make a decent amount of money from tips.

Sadly, I didn’t always have someone to play with because I was the only girl in the house other than my mother. One thing that Tica and myself did similar as children was playing with the dollhouse. When Tica was shearing her story she said that her and her cousin would “imitate” their mothers using the dolls. She said that they would do things like pretend that the dolls were sleeping and they would then get the dolls up and they would “drive” to work and things like that. Those are some of the thing that I would do with my dolls, the only difference would be me not using crayons as markers for where the street, sidewalks, and light polls were.

I have always enjoyed the art of cosmetology because it helps bring out people's features, makes them feel more confident, and there's always different looks for everyone. I remember when I would get my hair done, being so intrigued by the art that came from it. How changing the color of someone's hair can change there whole look, or how a simple haircut can bring out certain face features. When I first started doing hair and makeup, I was not very good, but the more I kept practicing the better I got. On the other hand I have always been pretty good with doing hair.
Since the age of 14 I knew being a cosmetologist was what I wanted to do I have always been very passionate about beauty I have always enjoyed the feeling of doing someone's hair or nails one of my favorite things was watching my friends faces after I did a manicure and how they love the designs and them being so amazed at my great work. I could sit here and go on and on about everything I love about cosmetology but that would be a very long essay.

When I was younger I was super self conscious of my teeth and the way they made my smile look. Once I stepped into the Orthodontist office and saw the magic my orthodontist could work on my teeth, I knew that I wanted to do the same for children once I grew up. An orthodontist is someone who specializes in the correction of crooked teeth by using braces. I chose this career because I want to be able to help kids have perfect smiles the way my orthodontist did for me. I think it would be amazing to transform my clients crooked smiles into something beautiful.
Working only about 5 hours a day and 3 hours of massaging is a recommendation from experienced professionals. The strain of giving a massage can wear on your hands, wrists, fingers, upper arms, and lower back from grinding deep into the muscle to work out crinks and knots. The work hours are also split between cleaning the work space after rubbing creams and antibiotics into the clients back. Keeping up with a little paperwork and doing laundry is also part of this job. Another few tidbits about what I may be doing in the future, are the facts that most massage therapists get to retire around the age of 30-40 years old because of the physical strength required to properly work out another 's muscle strains.
One of the main reasons I am interested in the field of cosmetology is because seeing the transformation of someone 's hair to fit what they like is heartwarming and knowing I am the one who helped them create a look they are most comfortable with is inspiring to me to want to do the best job I can. However, it’s not only about the transformation of someone’s hair but how that transformation can instill confidence and a sense of self-worth for a person. Having a client return time after time after I have met their expectations for either color, cut, or style will bring satisfaction not only to the customer, but to me as well.
Therefore, I learned a lot from my experience and I feel confident that I will be able to apply my skills to my personal life, academic journey and professional
Fashion is my method of self-expression. The clothes we choose to wear gives us control over how others perceive us and affects how we feel about ourselves. From wearing black at the Golden Globes in support of the Time’s Up movement to the traditional Chinese Qi Pao, clothes can show solidarity without words or act as a way for us to connect to our cultural heritage. This is why fashion is important to me, because it allows me to tell a story about who I am and who I aspire to be. I have chosen to further my Management studies at the London College of Fashion because the MA Fashion Design Management covers themes essential for managing a successful fashion brand, which has always been a dream of mine.
