Major Political Actors Bill AB 1124 was approved by Governor Jerry Brown on 6th October 2015. The bill stipulates that the administrative director should create a drug formulary before 1st July 2017 to be in the medical treatment schedule regarding medications prescribed to workers in the compensation system (Perea 2016). The important bill was introduced by democrat Henry Perea with the goal of preventing the overutilization of numerous drugs and opioids. Also, the bill aimed at saving taxpayer’s money for other important ventures while still meeting worker’s requirements for medication within the system. Henry Perea’s decision to sponsor the bill was informed by a study that revealed the numerous savings states like Washington and Texas were making by adopting formularies.

The American Democracy Now textbook explains about the different 9 chapters, such as The Constitution, Federalism, Civil Liberties, Public Opinion, Interest Groups, Political, and etc. Within each of the 9 chapters it describes a brief history of America and how it help mold and shaped the way we live, and the way we think from a different perspective of a person opinion. Throughout the years, technology has influenced different ways people and government communicates and organizes their political campaigns such as television, computers, cell phones, and news services. Technology has challenged people to give them opportunities to respond to make a deep impact in the future of the nation.

The Electoral College was founded by, ironically, the Founding Fathers. It is a process which is established in the Constitution, and serves one purpose: to elect a President by fair means. This method involves a combination of votes from both the Congress and the citizens of the United States. The Founding Fathers believed that in order to prevent tyranny, or oppressive government rule, a sort of system should be established. Along with the lack of trust, the Founding Fathers also were concerned about possible manipulation by foreign governments, thus creating the Electoral College (History Central).

I have learned so much from my high school american history course so far and I’m genuinely shocked by how interesting the information we are learning is. When I generally think about history it bores me but when I started learning about history this year everything changed. I think it’s very important to know history because without those historic events we quite possibly wouldn’t be where we are today. So that’s what I will be trying to do.

In spite of this, they do not necessarily agree on what the most important issue is with education. Nonetheless, it all boils down to this: our educational system is flawed and it must be examined and re-evaluated by teachers and administration in order to best serve our democratic arrangement; it is necessary that the argumentative culture be disbanded and that we focus on creating opportunities for students to flourish through a civic education. Similarly, politics should not be controlled strictly according to political parties, and Coolidge urged people to support the values they believe in, not a certain political party. In today’s world, I think many politicians would benefit from acting in the way of doing the right thing, rather than supporting sides merely based on political affiliation. The Electoral College was made because the first leaders did not want a government where only the majority of its people ruled. They thought that it would be unfair. They believed that a pure democracy would destroy the country. There are two parts in the voting process. The first part is democratic.

I have learned and clarified many things that I knew and did not know in civics class. I always thought that the whole idea of a democratic government was a good thing but, in civics I learned that there are still downsides to it like being the 49% to the 51% when voting. I also thought that the Canadian government was one of the best but they still had their flaws and things that does not allow it to run very well. Being born a Canadian does not mean anything if you know thing about how ti is operated and the things you can do. The pre-assessment I chose to give for this unit consists of forty questions of various types that mainly deal with vocabulary and key ideas surrounding the Progressive Era. The first eight questions require student to match historical figures to their impact or historical importance. The next seventeen questions are multiple choice and test students’ ability group individuals and ideas, recall key legislation and reforms desired by progressives, and so on. There are six true/false questions which check for comprehension even further.

The Electoral College system, in our government today, is made up of a winner-take-all system. The winner take all system demonstrates that whichever candidate that receives the most votes wins all of the electoral points and the other candidate receives nothing. The Electoral College system enacts the candidates of both parties to only visit the larger states, in which they know they will most likely receive the most electoral points. This is not technically fair because each state is not getting proper representation. When states disagree, with one candidate’s views on a particular issue, they can swing and vote for the other candidate causing the other candidate to alter their approach to win back the state.

After completing the mock Congress simulation, I obtained a greater understanding in how a bill becomes a law in addition to the factors that may prevent its passage. The diversity of roles that students were assigned as representatives offered a glimpse into how complex the legislative process really is. Bills are passed with the near universal intent of positively impacting the American people. However, this impact may not be universally distributed across demographics and in some cases it can hurt the constituents that one represents. With so many agendas, public and private, clashing and coinciding with each other in Congress, even the smallest of bills require a massive collective effort to become law.

Throughout the era between the years 1790 to 1840, the United States withstood numerous involvements in their political system by both factors within their country and as far as an ocean away. These various influences immensely contributed to moulding and creating America’s government system. The political affairs that occurred within the United States were in one way or another connected to the unsolved issues of political parties within the country. For example, after the War of 1812, Jackson introduced what is known as the Spoils System, which specifically targeted the political supporters of the Democrats and rewarded campaign contributors with positions in public office rather than to those who were qualified for the position.

The Electoral college, I believe the electoral college is an amazing system, but many people don’t think the same way. The Electoral college gathers the votes from all the people in that state and combines them into votes that are easier to count and keep track of. Therefore, I think it couldn’t be better. The definition of the electoral College is; a body of people representing the states of the US, who formally cast votes for the election of the president and vice president.

Next year at Embry-Riddle I plan start studying Cyber Intelligence and Security. Ever since middle school I knew I had a developing interest in the field of computer science and spent most of my time building the skills to excel in my classes. One of the first projects I got to use the computer on was a video for the Oregon Trail. I decided that it would be best to design an advertisement to showcase the facts in a new and creative way. When my group turned the project in, and it was shown to the class my teacher rewrote the assignment according to what we did and used it as an example of great work when recruiting new people.

Rhetoric should come back as a staple in learning. Rhetoric can help students recognize persuasion and develop critical thinking skills. Jay Heinrich says in his book that rhetoric has been an essential part of education throughout history. Only recently has rhetoric become generally unpopular. Bringing back rhetoric to students can open up a whole new world of understanding that they might never have seen before.
