Psychology Collage Psychology is the study of mind and behaviour. Psychologists seek answers to questions like why siblings are so alike in many different ways and why one individual might act differently than another individual. Psychologists study everything that has to do with the human mind. They study people’s different emotions and what makes them so different from everyone else. I chose the picture with the red umbrella among the black ones because I think it portrays difference. When I look at that picture I see something standing out and to me its showing me that sometimes being different isn’t a bad thing. Every single person has a different brain and a different way of thinking and that is okay. The world wouldn’t be fun if everyone was the same would it? This photo shows that being different is good not bad. I think people with a mental illness need to know that because they think that being different is bad but in reality difference is what makes us all different. I like the photo with the question marks coming out of the head because I think it shows that the human mind is a mystery. Which is most definitely true. In fact we only use 10% of our brain so that means that 90% of our brain we do not use and no one knows …show more content…
Some people get lost in their own head all time. Some get lost easier than others. The brain is a big maze that every single person has to go through each day. Some people don’t get through it and they crack and develop what we like to call a mental illness. Some people are already lost but they don’t know it yet. They are waiting there ready to crack and no one knows what can send them over the edge. That is why you have to be nice to everyone you meet because you never know what they are going through in their head and in their mind. You never know if you will be the person that makes them

In the Registered Psychotherapist article, “Stranger Things as an Analogy for the Effects of Mental Illness on Family, Friends, and Society”, by Daniel Farb, Farb explains how the new Netflix original series gives insight to the struggles of mental illnesses. Farb does this by giving examples from the series and explains how this shows some sort of mental illness. He then goes on to explain how this illness takes a toll on the person that is sick but also the ones that care for the said person. “it becomes clear that Will isn’t dealing with ordinary childhood fears or the effects of an “overactive imagination,” but is in fact facing something that is very real and dangerous. Such is the case for many young people in our world as they struggle
This occurs with Deanie Loomis, she “cracks” in her head and becomes depressed while allowing every decision she makes to be based on Bud. I have had a few friends like Deanie, blinded in their decisions by being controlled by their significant other. Both situations, with Deanie and my old friends, are
Psychology and its Implications Student’s Name Institution Affiliation Psychology and its Implications Introduction Psychology has been used for a long time to understand human behaviour. When Amy believed her husband might leave her for another woman, she went to extreme measures to avoid abandonment by setting up a whole plan of her going missing so that he would have to stay with her once she returned. Social mores are those unwritten rules that dictate how we act in public. They are the things that irritate the general public, like when a person is walking on the “wrong side” of the sidewalk. No law governs which side a person should use, but society expects that one would use the same as what they would drive. If a person enters an elevator and faces the back rather than the front, not only will it make others uncomfortable, but it will be uncomfortable for that person as well. In a similar fashion, attempting to go against the socially expected behaviors for one’s gender is uncomfortable to the point of avoidance.
According to Dunfield’s (2014) framework, pro-social behavior comprises of three subtypes: helping, sharing and comforting. The negative state that a pro-social behavior targets is what forms the basis of this categorization. Accordingly, alleviating a negative state mark by an instrumental need requires helping behavior, while an unmet material desire requires sharing behavior, and emotional distress requires comforting (Dunfield, 2014). Identifying these subtypes is helpful for conceptual clarity, for disentangling the socio-cognitive skills underlying pro social behaviors, and for a complete understanding of the developmental trajectory of pro-sociality. One concern, however, regards ecological validity.
The thought of being someone with a mental disorder living in a normal world is something that has crossed my mind. If the mind if strong enough to creates images, then why can it not create a world. There are those to believe they are normal when in reality, they has something mentally wrong with them, so who is to say that I am not one of them. This is a thought that also relates to reality. To say that I am a normal person, that does not mean I am shielded from my mind.

Psychology is defined as “the scientific study of the mind and behavior” (Introduction to Psychology, 2015). Psychology provides an overview of biology and behavior, sensation and perception, learning, memory, intelligence, language, motivation, emotion, abnormal psychology, and therapy (PSY 102 Course Syllabus, 2018, pg 1). Because psychology allows for a better understanding of how the mind and body work, this knowledge can be beneficial for any field of study or career. The theoretical and practical understanding of the basics of psychology can help with decision-making, critical thinking, stress management, time management, better understanding of others, improving communication, and even achieving goals and objectives, all components that allow someone to be more successful throughout their life. Throughout this course I hope to gain a greater understanding of historical and theoretical perspectives of human behavior and development (PSY 102 Course Syllabus, 2018, pg 2).
Writing this reflective essay about Social Psychology course has made me realize that I have a lot to learn about this science but at the same time this course gave me insight into this science and helped me understand how we affect ourselves and society in terms of our behaviors, attitudes, perceptions, feelings, and thoughts. While studying the Social Psychology course during the classes and analyzing Exploring Social Psychology book, two modules and concepts grabbed my attention most. Self-Serving Bias (module 4) and Behavior and Belief (module 9) are the most remembered concepts for me which helped me improve my knowledge and skills regarding to these concepts. So, I am going to explain main features of these two concepts and discuss my
