Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation, uses more ethos, facts and credibility. A Fable for Tomorrow, uses more pathos, appeals to emotion.

Casualties of War is based on Daniel Lang’s news report on the Incident on Hill 192 in 1966 during the Vietnam War. In the movie, a five-man squad led by Sergeant Meserve kidnaps and rapes a Vietnamese girl named Than, regardless of the protagonist, Eriksson’s objection. Eriksson tries to rescue the girl, but the squad eventually kills her. Going through various obstacles, Eriksson manages to send the four men into court-martial, where they are sentenced to jail. The movie ends with Eriksson’s chance encounter with a Vietnamese-American girl who resembles Than, suggesting that he still cannot forget the wartime experience.

To convince the reader of his claim he uses rhetorical questions, word choice and anthesis in hopes to shed light and spark action on the wrongful situation.

The speech that was read by Chief Red Jacket to defend the religious beliefs of his people is a powerful piece of literature that is underrated. The speech describes the feelings that were caused by the religious intolerance from the Americans. Currently, the United States have started to appreciate the impacts of the Native Americans and other minorities in history. However, a piece of history that has been quite hidden is the religious intolerance of Native Americans. Chief Red Jacket utilizes repetition, pathos, and rhetorical questions to convince the Americans to tolerate the religion of the Native Americans.

In the movie trailer, The Blind Side, there are multiple scenes involving some of the main characters where lessons are taught and realizations are made. Many of these scenes contain imagery that would make viewers want to tear up due to how thought out these very simple, yet powerful scenes are. On the Wall, a small diamond is depicted next to the names of people confirmed dead, if a person is MIA(Missing in Action) they get a small cross next to their name. The cross can easily be carved into a diamond if the person is confirmed dead ,or turned into a circle, a symbol of life, if they are found alive.

December 7th, 1941 is a day changed the lives of all Americans. It is the day Japan deliberately attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii killing many U.S. soldiers and destroying a lot of the U.S. naval fleet. The significance of the speech is the fact that America joined into the fighting of World War II, something the Americans didn’t want to do at first. This speech has a stark resemblance to the speech George W. Bush gave after the terrorist attacks of The Twin Towers in New York City, an equally shocking event. King Edward I of England was successful in conquering this land an was trying to rid Scotland of their clans.

They need motivation to keep fighting. Lincoln used logos by explaining that because people gave their lives defending what they believed in, the living should finish the job the dead started. By talking about the fellow soldiers who died at Gettysburg, Lincoln appeals to the pathos of his listeners.

In 1998 Steven Spielberg directed a film called 'Saving Private Ryan,' this film won many awards including best cinematography, film editing, director and many more. The film is about a group of eight soldiers are sent to find Private Ryan, the youngest of his brothers. They are sent to find him after the general received notification that his other three brothers had died. The director has used aesthetic features to position the audience to believe in a dominant ideology, which is people create strong bonds in during difficult times. The aesthetic features that were used include symbolism, camera angles and lighting.

Abraham Lincoln in the speech, The Gettysburg Address, constructs a point of achieving a "just and lasting peace" between the North and South without retribution. Lincoln supports his assertion by justifying his beliefs of unity between the states. Lincoln's purpose is to influence the people to not allow what has been done to go to waste. He wants his audience to realize that this division will only persist if no one settles the current issues in society. Lincoln speaks in a sympathizing, determined tone to address the Americans who are mourning the loss of their loved ones and to the rest of Americans who he wants to see a change from.
