In the course of human history, the scientific method plays a large, if not the largest role in allowing us to discover more about our universe. Without the scientific method, we would have may not have anything that we currently have in advances of human existence, and if we were to have advances in technology, or in medicine, or in mere understanding, it would be far further within our timeline and there would be no guarantee that what we deem truths is the truth of the universe or just mere desperate clasping onto anything that would tell us who we are. At this stage, it is regarded that al-Haytham, a Muslim scientist born during the Golden age of Islam, was the architect of the scientific method. However, the scientific method was further refined by enlightenment scientists. Sir Isaac Newton, who played a large role within the enlightenment to the point of gaining the moniker of “The Enlightenment”, was the first person to realize the scientific method requires inductive and deductive reasoning. Inductive reasoning is going from specific facts, (such as when I unplug my computer it turns off, when my TV is unplugged it turns off and won’t turn on) to general conclusions (things requiring electricity have to be plugged in to work). Deductive reasoning is when you start with a general conclusion and end with a specific fact. An example would be that off “All humans are mortal, Bob is a human, Bob is mortal”. Furthermore, to ask who invented the scientific method is hard to as that implies it is finished. The scientific method is going through a constant state of evolution and modification, and so no has really invented it. Soon, it would enable a worldview in which people were not invoking the principles of religion as often as the Renaissance. As an example, these natural philosophers, known as scientists today, developed a new thinking in which the world was no longer geocentric. The thought of an Earth-centered universe as the Bible would say, transformed as heliocentric or in other words Sun-centered. There are 6 steps of the scientific method which are used in order to understand and answer a question. The first step of the scientific method asks a question you do this so you have a problem to solve because you can't just do an experiment while using the scientific method. The second step of the scientific method does background research you do this so you know more information about the question or problem you are trying to solve or answer. The third step is to construct a hypothesis this is when you make a guess of what the result will be. The fourth step is to test your hypothesis by doing an experiment this is when you can see the variables such as controlled, dependent, and independent variables.
