Who's to say
Who would get paid? What athletes would get paid and what ones would not? What college can pay and which one can not pay their athletes? What will the colleges have to take away to make the money to pay the athletes? Would it make the tuition go up for all students? Could this lead to more people not going to school? Why give them more money if the school will only need to take it back? Will paying college athletes really help them? A lot of people say they do not go to college because of how much it cost. So it tuition goes up even more people will not go to college. Athletes should not get paid in college.
Being a college athlete pays for most to all of their college. Most athlete in college have a lot of small scholarships

Sports bring in money because of the game tickets and other things the same. However bigger sports like football and boys basketball pays for the smaller sports like girls basketball and bowling. So by paying athletes colleges would not be able to pay for the other smaller sports. A lot of school have taken out music and art because the college can not afford it. So if they start paying athletes, this could lead to more little programs within the college to be discontinued. There are some colleges that could afford to pay the athletes, however this would lead to these colleges losing students due to having to pay more or other school who do not pay the athletes lose student athletes because they do not pay them. So if colleges started paying athlete more, than the school it self would have to raise tuition and then students would have to pay more for the classes. This leading to students not wanting to go to college and or dropping out because of the hirer tuition. Not only this but if colleges start paying the athletes and the schools end up having to kick out smaller programs. this could lead to them kicking out a programs that some students have scholarships for, leaving them high and dry to pay for college themselves. So in the long run it will hurt the school and other students. This could even end up leaving the college in a bad place to where some lose so many students it has
College schools provide for student athletes enough. They pay for everything provided for the the students whether it’s scholarships or playing in the school games. Through it all it really doesn’t matter if they (the athletes) get paid for, it’s the opportunity that the coaches and university give them to play on the
Scholarships do not cover all the expenses and athletes do not have time to work to pay off debt. Since scholarships do not cover everything, athletes should get paid so they do not graduate largely in debt. The large debt would accumulate over the course of their four year stay at the college. The payment would be very similar to what they would get if they were working a job because they have spent a majority of their time with their sport. Furthermore most athletes do not receive full ride scholarships or student loans being schooled only have a limit number to offer.
The only difference between the programs is people like to watch football and basketball more, so it brings in more money. If all athletes cannot be paid, no athletes should be paid. Athletes are already paid by being given a scholarship. Not having to pay for a college education is something many people dream of. Most colleges provide their athletes clothes, meals, textbooks, and even tutoring.
The keys are to get as much of the contract guaranteed for skill, salary cap, and injury. Finally they might also say that if college athletes were to get paid they would be the same as professional athletes. College athletes are very similar to professional athletes but they also have school on top of sports. This additional requirement is why they should also be
Let’s face it some schools have more money set to sports than others. So if college athletes started getting paid some schools would be better off than others. Lets say that a kid from Sioux Falls that excels at football decides he wants to play football in college. If student athletes got paid that student would be more likely to play at a school like Alabama versus a smaller school closer to home that wouldn’t pay him quite as much like University of South Dakota.
What the colleges are willing to give the athletes most likely not be the amount the athlete wants. Paying athletes will create tension between the athletes and make them want to go where the most money is, rather than where they will benefit best. The smaller schools would not have the opportunity of having great players on their teams. Tensions could lead athletes to quit their sport or file a lawsuit against the school concerning their pay. College athletes have tutors they can call right away if they need help academically, or financially.
The pro athletes get paid for their hard work why don't college athletes?College do as much hard work as the pros but they still do not get paid. They both compete for championships and practice almost everyday. College athletes have to wait to go to the pros to get money when they should get it now. College athletes work on their sport everyday like a job so you should get money in exchange for your work and labor. Athletes need to be healthy but how can they do that without the right food which cost money.
College is a place for students to obtain a college degree and help them to get ahead on their “real world” careers. Athletic departments in college have become huge money incomes in the past ten years; college football and basketball are even shown on the television. This has resulted in many believing these athletes deserve to be paid for their contribution to the schools athletic income. However athletes in college are given the opportunity to play the sport that they love as well as receive a top education. For some players a $20,000+ per year tuition is not enough, they want to be paid with more than just a scholarship.
“College athletes don’t have to worry about student loans, paying for textbooks, the cost of on-campus living, and meal plans” (McCauley). These student athletes are still going to college, hence the name college athletes. They are not professionals, and this is not the big leagues. A scholarship can take care of a big portion of the cost to go to college. Even if it doesn’t cover the whole cost, they are still paying a lot less than a regular student going to college.
If colleges began to pay their athletes, then they could build a bad reputation for being mercenary and lose their educational reputation If they are allowed to play, then it can be financially detrimental to the college because there are many flaws in the system. College athletes should not be compensated for their actions regarding athletic activities, no matter what sport or level they compete on. The idea that college athletes should or shouldn 't be paid
The NCAA is a nonprofit organization. Students are not professionals which most people need to know. Paying college athletes to play would ruin college sports. Another thing is there is not a fair way to pay college athletes. Paying students athletes will cause cuts elsewhere in the athletic department.
Some athletes should be paid because, they put time and effort into the sport and take out family time to practice the sport. If other athletes hered that colleges were paying they would want to play so it will help the college by getting more students. College athletes should be paid. Paying them in college will help them succeed in life.
They don’t think that 's enough they think they should get paid for the sport they play as well. Most college athletes would just be happy with a four year career playing a sport and not having to pay for their college education.(3) Some of the athletes think they should get paid for doing something that got them that education. Which I don’t think thats right. Also college athletes get opportunities at receiving both a college education and get the exposure to win a major professional contract.(1)
If colleges were to be unionized and paying student-athletes, the money to pay
College is very expensive to attend. Just imagine the cost of living on campus with food and having to buy books to study with on top of all the other fees. If athletes and even academic students got paid for going to that particular school. Just that factor would help eliminate so many people from getting in financial difficulties over there time in college. Students that are attending a university expenses are going to be higher than a regular two year college.
