The Holocaust took place during World War II and took the lives of many people because they were Jewish. During the Holocaust the Jews were held in concentration camps which were occupied by German soldiers. The Jews would be put to work or starved at these camps. One of the biggest camps was Auschwitz which also had most of the deaths. Concentration camps should be preserved for memorization of the victims and so history doesn’t repeat itself. One reason concentration concentration camps should be preserved is to have a memorial for the victims. People are trying to preserve the objects and buildings not to make them look good. But after every year “...as more survivors die, the work becomes more important”(Donadio). The work becomes more important because the camps are a way to remember, especially when the survivors are …show more content…
If the concentration camps get preserved people will know what happened and can prevent it from happening again. The people in the camps went through terrible experiences, for example in the memoir Night Elie watched a child get hung “...for more than half an hour, lingering between life and death…” and nobody should have to go through that just because of their religion (Wiesel). If the camps get preserved it can be a way to prevent it from happening again. A former inmate Bogoslav Sicinska said “‘ I believe this place should be handed down from generation to generation, so that in the future; no nation-I would stress; no nation-should repeat this…’”(Gizbert). People are worried it will happen again but there is a better chance of it not happening if the camps get preserved. It will lower the chances because if people see what happened and how it started it can prevent another Holocaust. Besides the concentration camps should be preserved so history doesn’t repeat itself, some people don’t want the camps to be preserved in fear of too much
Why is it important to remember the Holocaust? That is the question we ask, but if you think about it, why wouldn’t the Holocaust be something to forget. Here are three main points to remember: Why it happened, the consequences of the act, and when/how we can learn and prevent something on this scale from happening again. 1993, Nazi Germany. This was the start of something immense, not only to the European-Jewish ethnic groups, but to the world.
The holocaust was one of the worst genocides that has happened to one race in the last 100 years it lead to the deaths of 6 million to 17 million jews. There are not that many people still alive that got saved for it because of the exprempit they were put through the time they were in the camps dieing. One of many ways the nazis killed so many jews was gas chambers and pizza type ovens they had mounds of people from the gas chambers piled up in the millions. When they got saved they had to did massov graves and use a bulldozer to get all the bodys in to the grave. In the book Night by Elie Wiesel there are many instes of dehumanizing for example they had to be put in to the cattle cars.
It will be remembered in history on how horrible it was on the people who ran it, how many prisoners it had and there deaths, Where was it at, what horrible things they where doing to the Jews and how big it was. Who were the leaders of the camp? To begin with, there where multiple commanders who ran Auschwitz during WW II. In fact, the camp had the most commanders coming in and out of service. In fact, they did that at total of four times during the war.
Many events in the world have been captured in history books but amongst the ones that have stuck to the memory of humankind is the holocaust. The reason for this is because of the huge number of casualties and questions as to what was the real motive behind the need to annihilate a whole community. Holocaust is
The Auschwitz concentration camp remains the most significant of all the testimonies. The Holocaust was a mass killing in which Nazis tortured and murdered about six million Jews. The remains such as the barracks, the hair, shoes, clothes, etc. are the best evidence because their presence ensures that nobody can deny that the crime actually took place. It is essential that the Auschwitz camp be kept, not only as evidence, but also as a reminder in order to prevent history from repeating itself. Auschwitz should be preserved in order to bear witness to what transpired during the Holocaust and in concentration camps.
In the article “Concentration Camps 1933-1939” the topic of Jewish Concentration camps was disgusted. The people in concentration camps were forced to work with no reward or pay off
Overall, Auschwitz was a terrible place and will be remembered because of all the innocent lives lost children, women, and men who all died just because of what they believed
From the beatings, starvation, and other awful things, the survivors of the Holocaust would never be the same as they was. Some survivors of the Holocaust tell their stories so we all remember that what Hitler did is unforgivable and that it should never be
The Holocaust was a time in history that was very very difficult. Hitler who was the leader of Germany, had much hatred towards Jewish people, because of this hatred, he acted very negatively towards the Jews. Lots of the time people don't understand how bad it actually was for Jewish people. Hitlers acts of hatred were so bad and harmful to the Jews. Hitlers goal was to rule the world and he did not want anyone that he did not like in his way, so he tried getting rid of them all.
Concentration camps should be preserved for future generations to fully understand this part of history. Concentration camps should be left up as a place to honor the victims of the Holocaust. It is very important to remember what happened to these people. It was awful how the Nazis treated
situations that are way more important. On the other hand, if this situation is left undone, people will feel like nobody cares about what had happened and criminals are just left to live their lives. There will be many displeased people who just want to get justice for their forebearers or even for themselves. While it had been so long that the Holocaust occurred, it is only right that it is all left done and finalized.
The Holocaust did not just impact survivors in that moment but it affected them for the rest of their life. Survivors remember memories and flashbacks that bring them back to that experience. Survivors did not only have mental damage but some physical damages that can take them back in time to that dark place. They faced starvation. They were dying.
“The time has come… you must leave all this…”(Wiesel 16) They had to leave all their belongings behind believing one day they would be back, but in the reality of the holocaust it was most likely they would never be back. In a way when they left all their belongings behind , but they also left many of their stories, identities but biggest of all their soul. Of course being in the ghetto was a horrible experience but none of them imagined that only the worst was yet to come . After being in the Ghetto for a short period of time they had to be transported in the trains to the concentration camps.
The Holocaust is a great lesson for the entire world to learn from, and particularly a lesson for the next generation to learn from the mistakes of the past and make sure that they are never repeated again (Why teach The Holocaust?). The Holocaust should be taught to students in schools because it presents decisions that, in the future, may need to be made or even ones that should not have been made, it allows students to see how history could repeat itself, and it instills a sense of appreciation for the freedoms and inclusiveness that we have in our time.
This was such a tragic time in history and we should all be thankful that our world isn 't like this. The Concentration Camps were made because Hitler hated the jews and wanted to kill all and they were kind of brainwashing them to tell them it is a wonderful place to live. When they were making the camps the Nazis would go around just shooting people for no reason. So Hitler and the Nazis captured the majority of the Jews and put them into these camps saying they should be here and that they deserve to died and it is all their fault.
