Should George Orwell's 'Animal Farm' Be Abolished?

Throughout the book, Napoleon works the animals until they’re exhausted and hungry. He fools them into thinking that everything was fine on the farm and that they were prospering. Only the pigs were benefiting from the efforts of the others. Napoleon shows no regard for the animals that work hard to make the farm prosper. Joseph Stalin had a similar attitude towards the proletariat.

There is at least 300 books banned a year for foul language, but don’t you think that an invasion of the authors freedom of press and an invasion of children 's first amendment as well? So I think that books should not be banned. I have three main idea the first on is that the books can be about history and they have some language back then that was fine but is not fine today. The second reason is that libraries should be able to hold all types of books but have an age restricted area. The last reason is that it will get rid of children’s first amendment, and the authors first right as well.

The pigs took away rights and lives of their own citizens as did the Soviet’s, which helps teach what the book was trying to show that when these political figures gain such power, that they should not use it to only their advantage but to everyone’s. This can be represented at the end of the book when Napoleon has a meeting with humans and starts to resemble the humans exactly. This is because Napoleon used his power for his own well-being like the humans and eventually resembled one. “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” pg.124 The image of the pigs appearance is tarnished by the way the pig treated his citizen as did Stalin.

For example, Napoleon decides that “It was about this time that the pigs suddenly moved into the farmhouse and took up their residence there... It was absolutely necessary, he said, that the pigs, who were the brains of the farm, should have a quiet place to work in. It was also more suited to the dignity of the Leader (for of late he had taken to speaking of Napoleon under the title of "Leader") to live in a house than in a mere sty” (21) meaning that he is starting to take control of the farm. This shows that Napoleon is slowly starting to become the leader of the farmhouse and concludes that he deserves more than the others because of his high position. Furthermore, this also illustrates that the animals do not understand that Napoleon is becoming the thing that he feared most; human.

The rulers of the farm take advantage of the low reading skills that the rest of the animals possess and use that weakness against them, as the animals just believe whatever the pigs tell them to, as they have no reason not to. The pigs’ goals seem intact and they do

The second tactic that Napoleon uses is loyalty to the farm. The quote shows that the animals are loyal to the farm by upkeeping the farm in which they do it for themselves, “All that year the animals worked like slaves. But they were happy in their work; they grudged no effort or sacrifice, well aware that everything that they did was for the benefit of themselves…” (Orwell 73). The quote proves that the pigs worked the other animals like slaves.

The pigs used “animalism” to their advantage and also changed its rules for their benefit. Old Major never meant for Napoleon to use his ideas of “sharing” to cause more problems for the other animals than before under Mr.

In Animals Farm, there is a pig who’s name Napoleon. This character did not contributed to the society with his actions. In effect, he did not respect the concept of “Animalism” which is the equality of all the animals. He did many actions that broke this conception during the entire story. At the beginning, Napoleon, take the farm with Snowball when the farmer, Mr. Jones, left.

At the start of the rebellion, Manor proclaimed that “Even when we have conquered Man, we must not resemble him or adopt his vices”. However, at the end of the novel, there is no real difference between man and pigs. The pigs dress in Jones’s clothing’s, subscribe to Daily Mirror and even drink with the neighbouring farmers. Napoleon even confirms that the “title-deeds were owned by the pigs jointly”. It finally dawned upon the animals that the utopian life that they envisioned was only a

“Animal Farm” by George Orwell, is a story to show how absolute power corrupts, just as Stalin’s power did during the Russian Revolution in 1917. In the allegory “Animal Farm” each character represents a political figure from the days around the Russian Revolution. For example, Joseph Stalin is represented by a pig named Napoleon, Squealer, another pig, represents Stalin’s propaganda department, and the dogs represent the Secret Police (KBG). Using the nine dogs that Napoleon raises (intimidation), Squealer (propaganda), and manipulation, Orwell illustrates how Napoleon was able to gain and maintain control of the farm. The nine dogs that stay by Napoleon at all times are useful for Napoleon to gain and maintain control of the farm because they scare the other animals, intimidating them so that they do not disobey Napoleon.

However, Orwell depicted, “The animals would still assemble on Sunday mornings to salute to the flag, sing Beasts of England, and receive their orders for the week; but there would be no more debates” (Orwell 54). In the past, the animals had the ability to speak out at the farm Meetings, even if they chose not to. However, now that Napoleon took this right away from them, he got to be in charge of all the decisions for the farm and no one could contradict him. As Animal Farm developed, the pigs slowly disregarded animals’ rights and opinions, and the farm subtly gained more dystopian

This is exactly what the humans did and the pigs, in effect, take over from the humans and rule in just the same oppressive manner. In this way, they destroy the original ideals of the revolution which called for complete equality for all animals and the rejection of all human contact. By the end of the novel, the pigs are in an open alliance with the humans and behave just like them, even by walking on two legs. A revolution aimed at improving the lives of the animals, with the best possible intentions, has degenerated into a nightmare. Similar to the creation and destruction of the Soviet Union, Napoleon in Animal Farm is directly connected to Joseph Stalin, while Snowball represents Leon Trotsky, and Old Major is Vladimir Lenin.

Animal Farm, A Dystopian Society Dystopian societies involve bloodshed, espionage, and countless tragedies among the citizens of the society. The goal of creating a successful society is very difficult to accomplish due to the amount of criteria a society must meet to become successful. A utopia is a society where everything is perfect and everyone is happy, while a dystopia is a society where everyone is under complete control and the government is often conniving. Animal farm can be portrayed as a dystopian society due to the farm’s cunning, but evil, leader and the multiple traits of dystopian societies that can be clearly seen on the farm. The propaganda used by Squealer in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, as well as the frowned upon dissent and false fantasy of the farm being a utopia, prove that The Animal Farm is a dystopian society.

Imagine a community with no hate, no war, and no famine. A place where everyone is accepted and everything is better than imaginable. This idea of perfection is known as a utopia, an ideal society. A utopia is known as a successful, perfect society. A place where everything goes right for everyone that lives there.

When the men come in with whips, the animals fight back, and manage to chase all the humans away and bar the gate behind them. The newly liberated animals rename the farm Animal Farm, and paint the Seven Commandments of Animalism on the barn wall. Assuming leadership roles, the pigs Napoleon and Snowball argue and disagree on almost everything, while Squealer is used as their mouthpiece, justifying policies that provide special treatment for the
