Similarities Between Abigail Adams And Mary Wollstonecraft

On April 15, 1865 Abraham Lincoln died. On that day, it started a chase of Lincoln’s killers and henchmen. Lincoln’s killer was John Wilkes Booth and the helpful associate was George Atzerodt, David Herold, and Lewis Powell. Atzerodt was going to assassinate the Vice President, Andrew Johnson, David Herold was Booth’s navigator around Washington, and Lewis Powell was going to assassinate secretary William H. Elizabeth Proctor and Abigail Williams are both extremely important characters in The Crucible who help us get insight into the Salem Witch Trials. Although they are opposing characters, you’d be surprised to find out how similar they actually are. Today, I will be discussing their personalities and how they compare and contrast each other. While reading The Crucible we learn that Abigail Williams is the antagonist. Abigail is portrayed this way because she is a manipulative liar.

The Different Kind Power of Abigail Williams and John Proctor How can the power that a person has affect how they use it and the consequences of it? There can be different types of power, some of which can be used for either good or evil. In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, there are two characters that have different kinds of power. Abigail Williams, a seventeen year old trouble maker, and John Proctor, a mid-thirties farmer and family man, both exhibit different kinds of power with very different results. Ultimately, Abigail uses her power dubiously gained power for ill intent; while, Proctor uses his power gained through good will and respect for the benefit of his family and friends.

Abigail Adams and Shakespeare were part of two different time periods, they both have different education levels, and have different things they are writing about. This translated to their pieces of literature very different in terms of context and writing style. Abigail, unlike Shakespeare, is writing to her son about her concerns. She emphasizes “that wisdom and penetration are fruits of experience, not the Lessons of retirement and leisure”. She believes that scholarship is significant and talks about it, whereas shakespeare doesn’t.

The declaration raised important issues such as equality of women in the ownership, marriage, free choice of profession, in obtaining a full education, and so on. Imagine being a slave, doesn’t sound very fun does it? The abolitionists hated slavery. Some abolitionists include, Fredrick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Abe Lincoln, and many more. They all had the 21 Indispensable qualities of a leader, they were all leaders. Whether it was Harriet Tubman saving slaves through the Underground Railroad.

The Declaration of Independence includes the statement that all men are created equal. Not all people had the rights and freedoms of everyone else. Source B is a letter from Abigail Adams to her husband, John Adams. She declares that the Continental Congress in Philadelphia should be generous and favorable to the women, by letting them have a say in government, and give them more rights. In Source C, the author of this slave petition to the House of Representatives expresses his feelings of not being able to have freedoms as an African American living in America.

In this letter Abigail Adam tells her husband that he should speak more about the rights of women and let their voices be heard. So because of this and womens being able to speak up after this they are able to stand up for themselves and create a more comfortable place for both male and females. Abigail Adams also talks about how he should not allow to have men's superior power or they will create a rebellion against them. The person I will be mainly talking about is Ida B Wells. Ida B Wells was a phenomenal woman who had a why. Who wouldn’t back down from anything no matter what backlash she would get from it? She was part of a few who begin the Civils Right movement. She displays resilient and also perseverance.

Susan B. Anthony was born into a Quaker family, with the hope that everyone would one day be treated equal. She denied a chance to speak at a temperance convention because she was a woman(Susan B. Anthony). From this point on, she knew that she needed to make a change. Susan B. Anthony, because of her intense work involving women 's’ rights, highly influenced all of the societies and beliefs that were yet to come. She employed a huge role in our history because of the fact that she advocated for women’s rights, for the integration of women in the workforce, and for the abolition of slavery.

They both talk about how women are just as much humans as men and that they should all be treated equally. In Abigail and John Adams Converse on Women’s Rights, 1776, women want to be given the chance to live and be able to accomplish the tasks and responsibilities as everybody else in America. In the letter, Abigail writes to John saying without the women’s works that men will not be able to keep a family. She also says that he should not put all of the power with the men, because women need power to be able to take care of the family and work to keep their family both happy and safe. Abigail told John in her letters to remember the women when he was attending his meetings to develop the new Code of Laws.

Abigail Adams is a phenomenal woman who influenced and spoke for all women’s rights within the time period of the 1700s to the early 1800s because they struggled to have a voice for themselves. The book “Abigail Adams: A Revolutionary American Woman” written by Charles W. Akers depicts how she grew up to be the woman she was known for till this day. She was born Abigail Smith to the parents of William and Elizabeth Smith on November 22, 1744 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Her parents had taught her three sisters and herself on how to be patient within life and never speak badly of those who are not presently around, they also had
