Similarities Between Animal Farm And The Russian Revolution

After reading Animal Farm by George Orwell, it is very evident that there similarities between the plot and characters of the story, and the historical figures and events that took place in the Russian Revolution. The similarities are strikingly similar and it can be assumed that Orwell based his story off of the events that took place in Russia.
One significant parallel between Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution is Napoleon to Joseph Stalin. Joseph Stalin was born on December 21, 1879. He was born Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili, however when he was in his 30s he took the name Stalin, meaning “man of steel”. He grew up as an only child and was poor, living with an alcoholic father who beat him, and a mom who was a laundress. Later in his teen years, he earned a scholarship to attend seminary. While attending school he began reading the works of Karl Marx. This led him to developing an interest in the movement against the Russian Government. He was later expelled from seminary for missing exams. He claims this was due to Marxist propaganda. Following his time at school, he joined the Bolsheviks Party that was led by Vladimir Lenin (“Joseph Stalin”). The first similarity between Napoleon and Stalin is that they were both in leadership positions. However, one of the greatest correlations is the way that they treated their enemies.
