The Tale of Genji is important to history because it is widely accepted to be the first novel ever written. Novels have played a large role in history by helping cultures express themselves, communicate, and write down historical events that are now studied in modern society. The website The Tale of Genji has a few excellent characteristics of it; however, it also has flaws. One of these flaws is that it is a summary and merely tries to give an in-depth look at the book and how it was significant in the time it was written. Therefore the text cannot be taken as the original document and should not be quoted. It is also not an academic article or journal and lacks backing from an academic institution which diminishes the integrity of its articles. …show more content…
It showed that the citizens are the ones with the power instead of the government and that the government must listen to their needs. One good source to find information about the Boston Tea Party would be the book Defiance of the Patriots which goes into detail about the events and is written by Benjamin L. Carp who is a graduate of the University of Virginia and a history professor at Brooklyn College. This book would give a lot of insight into the Boston Tea Party and a student could use the author’s point of view to enforce their own beliefs about the event. However, another good source that a student could find online is peer reviewed essays or academic articles reviewing the book. There are many peer review articles on this book that can be found on the in the MacEwan online library. These are good sources to use because they are reviews that are respected by MacEwan University, as well as other educational institutions. The War of 1812 is very important in world history because it was the beginning of the end for France’s global imperialism and was also a war that would shape all of North America for century’s to come. If a student was writing a paper on this topic, a good secondary source would be a review essay by Eliga H. Gould. This is a good source because the author has a Ph.D in American History and is a professor for the University of New Hampshire and continues to write books that are published by reputable companies. These books have also earned many awards which add to their integrity and value and that of the
On May 10, 1773, the British parliament passed the Tea Act and unlike the previous acts it didn’t impose new taxes and its main purpose was not to make more money from the colonies but to help out the East India Company which was struggling financially. The company was struggling because many colonists were boycotting tea to protest the tax on tea and as a result, the company had millions of pounds of unsold tea in its warehouses. The company was important to the British because it played a large role in their economy and the Tea Act gave the company a monopoly on the sales and importation of tea in the colonies. The Tea Act affected the colonists by causing merchants who were part of the illegal Dutch tea trade to lose business, forcing shop
For the most part, it was introduced as a bailout policy to assist the company in getting out of debt. The main organizers of the Boston Tea Party were the members of a patriot organization known as the Sons of Liberty.
The colonists were still not represented in the British government and didn’t have a say on how the taxes could be done. The colonists wanted the tea returned to England, but it wasn’t and they decided to protest the unfair tax. The Boston Tea Party Was it a big, fun party with tea?
Till this day, the Boston Tea Party is considered to be one of the most powerful movements that helped lead up to a revolutionary war against Great Britain. Some people may view it as a time when colonist dumped tea into the Boston harbor. For others, it was a time that made America stronger than ever. So why was dumping tea into the Boston harbor such a big deal for America?
The Boston Tea Party was a key event that provoked the start of the Revolution. Furious at the colonists for rebelling him, the king was in shock. In response to these rebelling colonists, the king made the colonists life miserable.
These actions took away a lot of rights of the colonists in Boston. This resulted in Boston colonials to start spreading the word that “If Britain can do this to Boston today, other colonies could be the next tomorrow.” With this mentality, the colonists began to organize small revolts that would eventually lead up to the American revolution. Because of the actions of the colonists, the British government's attitude on the event of the Boston tea party was that someone must pay. Because of the buildup and animosity that the Greenville acts gained from the colonists, it was easy to see why the colonists displayed so much distaste for the other tax acts that followed to Greenville and tea acts.
The Boston Tea Party was one of the important events leading up to the American Revolutionary War because it showed Britain how much the colonists hated how they were being treated, it caused Britain to punish the colonists for their actions which made the colonists even more mad, and it caused many of the colonists to follow what the Sons of Liberty did and try to fight back too. One of the reasons the Boston Tea Party led to the American Revolutionary War was because it showed Britain how much the colonists hated the way they were treated and taxed. It started with the colonists boycotting
First, I will be addressing the Tea Act of 1773 which was implemented by Great Britain and proved unfair against the colonists, then Britain's response to the rebellion of the colonies, and lastly why the
After the boycotts and protests the tea had all rotted and could not be used, I know what they did was wrong and thought they could have handled it differently, but they did prove our point. Parliament was not happy and thought that Boston should repay for the lost tea, and put forth four punishments, we like to call them the Intolerable Acts. Since Massachusetts seemed to be the only one being punished a lot of the other colonies realized how corrupt parliament really was. We couldn’t even have town meetings without the approval of the governor and we were under the control of parliament. This alone pushed many of us away from the crown and towards becoming American Patriots.
To start off, the Boston tea party was one of the causes of the American Revolution But before we get into the Boston tea party, we have to know a few things about the French and Indian War. Basically Britain and France fight a war for control over North America from 1756 to 1763. Britain wins, however they went into a big amount of debt fighting in it. After the war, the government of the British decided that the American colonist had to help pay that debt.
The Boston Tea Party disrupted this period of calm. In December 1773, a group of patriots took over three ships and dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. The harsh Tea Act imposed by the British caused this action. Two years later, the British began their march to Lexington and Concord to arrest patriot leaders and seize their weapons.
The Boston Tea Party was a violent, courageous, and an eventful act that took place in 1997 because of constant disputes. It started to become a large issue when the British and English colonist constantly disagreed about the unfair taxes that were charged from the British. The colonists didn’t agree to the taxes at all the the government officials formed a plan. The British put such a hefty tax on the tea because they realized the demand was so outrageously high, and they could make a much larger profit off of it. Colonists did not want to pay the huge taxes, so they started buying/smuggling tea from East India, but the British wanted to have the colonists to buy tea from them because of the taxes.
The riot began when about 50 citizens attacked a British sentinel. A British officer called in additional soldiers, and they too were attacked, so the soldiers fired into the mob, killing 5. The Boston Tea Party began with the Tea Act that past in Boston. The law prevented the colonists from buying tea from other tea shops and that tea was more expensive than the others.
If the Boston Tea Party had never happened many aspects of American life would be altered. Great Britain lost a large amount of money because of the colonies during this event, and in the end they lost the Colonies. The Colonists were punished for wasting Great Britain’s money, so they decided to fight back. The Boston Tea Party also caused a war and earned the Colonies their freedom.
The boston tea party occurred when colonist as a way of rebelion attack british by throwing the tea that they found in their ships. And some people wonder why they did that and historic events show that there were French Indian War before that make the colonists to have an economic crisis so they can pay for the products. And the unique product that haven’t tax was the tea.
