Have you ever thought of running hundreds of miles? Well, Terry did. Terry Fox was a young Canadian here that suffered cancer at the age of 18. After his leg got amputated, he cared for all the children that suffered cancer too. So, he decided, to run across Canada, to raise money for cancer research. In this text you will learn the five major characteristics I observed in this brave inspiring young man.
Terry Fox was very courageous. Even though hundreds of people didn 't believe Terry could make it, he still kept up the effort. No one would ever think of running across a country as big as Canada. Everyone thought he was insane since he wanted to run across Canada! A lot of times Terry felt pain from cancer come back, but he still kept running.

He was on the media for more than once, he took everyone 's attention. He was very famous. If he was still alive he would have been a millionaire! But he wouldn 't care about this stuff. All he cared about was raising money for cancer research. He was running from his heart although in his early life he hated running. In addition, Terry cared and risked his life for people he didn 't even know or meet. He thought of all the children that suffered from cancer at such young age and decided to run and risk his life for them.
Aside from Terry being courageous and selfless, he was also a hopeful young man. Terry obviously knew he couldn 't finish the Marathon of Hope, but he still kept up the effort and never gave up. He is a very good example of the phrase "never give up" All the time he would be optimistic, when he felt tired he kept up his positive attitude no matter what happened
However, Terry had empathy. He had empathy for all the children that suffered cancer at really young age. He put himself in someone else 's shoes. He felt for the children 's parents, siblings and family. So, he decided to end this problem by fund-raising money by running hundreds of miles. When Terry got better from cancer he still wanted to run since he knew other children are still
He felt that if he stopped seeking out challenges he would lose his edge (p 78). In my post of July 14 I said that Pat Tillman, “had an incredible sense of who he was. He didn’t need to hide much, or pretend to be something that he wasn’t.” He had compassion and the strength in character to challenge himself and be
Terance Stanley Fox (also known as Terry Fox) was born on July 28th 1958. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was the second of four children born to Betty and Rolly Fox. In 1966 his father, Rolly decided to move him and his family to Vancouver, Britsh Columbia. The family moved west and eventually settled in Port Coquiltam, a community located 27km east of Vancouver.
He is also caring, and his family is his number one priority. One of the last, most important, characteristics is his honesty. Walter is an honest person and says when something should not be done. He is a delightful person with a big heart and a welcoming personality. Living in Ecuador was tough because he lived in poverty.
Louie Zamperinis story is one of perseverance, strength, and courage. The central idea of this book is to never give up and keep on going, even in the darkest situations. This novel explores many issues and ideas, but the one that stands out the most is the personal one. Laura Hillenbrand uses the themes of suffering and perseverance in the novel Unbroken to show how if a person believes he/she can do it, it can be done. The author demonstrates this in many ways telling the story of his childhood until adulthood.
Terry wants justice for Joey Doyle’s murder. Doyle only wanted justice for his town, and to get the justice, he agreed to testify against Friendly. Friendly had murdered Joey Doyle and made his murder seem like a suicide. At the end of On the Waterfront, Terry testifies against felon Johnny Friendly. Terry testifies against Friendly because Friendly murdered Doyle.
As the fourth section progresses we are introduced to a variety of characteristics that define a rebel. My personal take was that you know you are truly rebel when you cannot be easily defined by stereotypes of a rebel. In addition, a rebellious person may rebel against multiple ideals but in rebelling against those ideals they support different ideals. Chris McCandless is a paragon of a rebel seen in his rebellion against societal norms but also his rebellion against characteristics of individuals that rebel against societal norms.
Especially when in this era, corruption was no stranger to wealthy business owners. His various donations helped education institutes and libraries, these donations went to businesses but helped people interested in the scientific field or even people who were greatly into reading books. In today’s time, many celebrities donate to charities. For example, a cancer research lab may get many donations to help for further investigation to find a cure for cancer or help pay for patients who cannot afford therapy. In conclusion, this all goes to show that men administering their fortune does impact society and themselves as a
He was reckless when it came to how his friends and family would react when he left because their emotions didn’t seem to matter to him when he made the decision to leave them. His narcissism, however, did not show solely through his recklessness with the feelings of others, but also through how unprepared he was. His stubbornness stopped him from accepting help, and his ignorance prevented him from realizing what he needed to do to survive. Chris’s decision to leave was his equivalent to Evel Knievel’s decision to try to jump over a box filled with rattlesnakes and lions. With that stunt, Knievel had put others at risk for the sake of his own personal goal: money and
Many people may know him, many people could describe him as Lance Armstrong, the winner of the Tour De France competition. As many people might know he lived to gain his name. As a child he was superb in football, swimming, and running. But as many people might know he really shined in his cycling ability. Soon Lance hit the road and was sent for his biking skills in the U.S.A Olympic team but he did not really earn his fame until he won the most cutthroat competition race in the world of cycling the Tour De France.
He was very brave throughout the
Terry Malloy’s character is an example of an anti-hero. An anti-hero, unlike the typical hero, has faults and flaws that you would not really want someone like him in the society but in the film, you would root for him due to the different circumstances in the film. Terry Malloy is like an errand boy for the gang that controls the docks of New Jersey. Terry and his brother, Charlie was orphaned and eventually got involved with Johnny Friendly, the gang leader. Charlie, the older brother, rose in the
Walter dealt with a hardship in his live as well. Walter was faced with racial discrimination. He wanted to have money to be able to to what he wants, follow his dreams. He was threatened, arrested, harassed and belittled for his efforts of freedom and peace. He was strong willed and refused to give up the fight and always reassured his supporters that justice would always triumph. Even now, in retirement, he still continues to inspire the world (Gish, 2004). 8.1.
