CHAPTER 01 INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Individuals have always been an important part of any organizational structure, i.e. sole proprietorship, partnership, or the company. Hence it is equally important that the services of the human capital should be utilized in such a manner that brings the maximum output. Since on one side it seems necessary to compensate the employees according to their skills & efforts, it’s also necessary to keep them away from the stress on the work place as much as possible. To evaluate the effect of those factors which cause job stress. 1.4 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The main purpose of this research is to highlight all possible factors, which cause the job stress, and then apply the same factors in the banking sector to see their outcome. These factors may consist of: Job conflicts with personal interests Work overload Work ambiguity Lack of communication & cooperation Gender inequality Constraints of rules & regulations Job requirements & capabilities mismatch Unrealistic deadlines Inadequate authority Job insecurity Unpleasant environment etc. These factors will be applied comparatively in both the private and public sector banks to see which sector banks are more affected by these factors, and in the end suggestions will be given to overcome or at least reduce the effect of these factors in the work

There are two types of stress called eustress and distress. Eustress originates from a pleasant experience while distress is unpleasant and disease producing stress (Walden University, 2015e). However, stress and possible stress that causes disease can be minimized by providing employees with roles that are clearly defined and encouraging communication between managers, employees, and other departments (Mitut, 2010) within an organization.
