In the 21st century people believe that slavery is a historical relic, but the truth is history always finds a way to repeat itself. Slavery is not something only from the past, across the world its estimated by International Labour Office in 2016 that 40.3 million people are enslaved today. Plus 10 million from that number are children, and 4.1 are being expiate by the government. Consequently, modern slavery is a truly a tormenting phenomena of this period of time and equivalent to slavery, and it is an umbrella term, due to the fact that it isn’t really defined with a term by the law. But it can be seen and insinuate to as human trafficking, forced and bounded labor, child labor and child soldiers, forced prostitution and forced …show more content…

Forced child labor, commercial sexual exploitation, forced begging and forced marriage. The global slavery index mentioned that “India is undergoing a remarkable 'triple transition', in which economic growth is both driving and is being affected by rapid social and political change. Economic growth has rapidly transformed the country over the past 20 years, including the creation of a burgeoning middle-class. In 1993, some 45 percent of the population were living in poverty; by 2011 that had been reduced to 21 percent. In addition to economic growth, ambitious programmes of legal and social reform are being undertaken right across the board, from regulation of labour relations to systems of social insurance for the most
The use of slaves has always been present in the world since the beginning of civilization, although the use and treatment of those slaves has differed widely through time and geographic location. Different geographies call for different types of work ranging from labor-intensive sugar cultivation and production in the tropics to household help in less agriculturally intensive areas. In addition to time and space, the mindsets and beliefs of the people in those areas affect how the slaves will be treated and how “human” those slaves will be perceived to be. In the Early Modern Era, the two main locations where slaves were used most extensively were the European dominated Americas and the Muslim Empires. The American slavery system and the
Slavery is not always recognizable by who enslave other people. We can define historically as the loss of freedom by the forced conformity by physical, relish emotional, control or loss of power. “While I was saddened by the thought of losing the aid of my kind mistress, I was gladdened by the invaluable instruction which, by the merest accident, I had gained from my master.” quoted Frederick Douglass. In that moment of the scene that 's where the role of literacy began. Once literacy is exposed to the slaves, they would become unmanageable for the slaveholders to handle. Slaves would then realize that the key to their freedom is literacy. Why is teaching slaves how to read and write is such a problem that slaveholders fear it?
I believe that Slavery is the act of being trapped without any fundamental freedom, or that is what I would have said a few months ago. Subsequently, after engaging numerous discussions and cultivating a sizable collection of poems and excerpts, I have vastly broadened my definition of slavery. With my new understanding, I have found slavery to be the general occurrence of sadness through control of oneself by another entity, including themselves, in a manner that causes a negative effect on the individual that is being controlled. Thus, slavery is the condition of displeasure through domination.
We already know one of the most barbaric types, wherein the powerful enslave the needy by force and violence. But examine other forms of slavery. We are like slaves to addictions, we can enslave ourselves to various addictions that determine it is difficult to vanish. I believe people out there do not know what addictions are, especially soft addictions;people feel ‘enjoyment is life which i once believe. It is very healthy to educate people about things they do not know; tell them this is what will happen when taking this path.

Older slave boys, and less frequently the girls, willingly contributed to them welfare of their family by hunting and fishing with their fathers during the evening hours. Exemption from field labor at night gave fathers and their children an opportunity to augment their diet by trapping small game and catching fish in nearby streams. They realized a much needed feeling of self-worth by adding delicacies to the family table. Often precluded by their masters from contributing to their families material welfare, slaves relished the chance to hunt and angle for food. Maybe most importantly, slave men found these two activities particularly satisfying because it allowed them the opportunity to teach their children the intricacies involved in hunting
Ira Butler claims that there are two distinct institutions of slavery: “slave societies” and “societies with slaves”. In slave societies, the labor of slaves serves as the only major means of production for goods. Comparatively a society with slaves is an institution of slavery were slave labor is marginal to the central productive process. Butler states that in societies with slaves slavery is just one form of labor among many. Historically it 's believed that New England fell into the category of a society with slaves however, when analyzing the institutions of African slavery in New England to that of the U.S South, Caribbean, and West Indies its clear that African slavery New England fall into the category of slave society.

The United States abolished slavery in 1865, the 13th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, "neither slavery nor involuntary servitude...shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction" (The United States Constitution). We never thought that over one-hundred years later there would be a new form of slavery that has affected so many people around the globe. Human trafficking is another name for modern-day slavery, where the victims involved are forced, coerced and deceived into labor and sexual exploitation. Most human trafficking victims are forced into the trade by the false promises made regarding job opportunities. Many women from third world countries are lured into this trade with the bait of false marriages or false jobs.
There are so many injustices around us. When we talk about the injustice about human trafficking not many of us aren’t aware or putting that much attention either because it’s not happening in the surrounding or in their families. Most of agree that human trafficking is an exploitation through the use of violence, deception or coercion and forced to work against their will. I 'm convinced that human trafficking is slavery. It’s important to know that human trafficking is a very prevalent crime against basic human rights, a crime that has spiraled out of control right under our noses.
