When fights such as in Iraq, we tend to send others to fight our battles for us like our family members or our friends. These people become soldiers, and I believe we should show better appreciation. So, we all show our appreciation to our soldiers who fight, but not many people express, which is why we created Veterans Day on November 11th. Why should we only show it one day? We should show it every day. A veteran can come home merry knowing there is a job available to him or her, or even having ensured health care, instead of returning home to having to research a health care plan or applying for a job. This can put stress into the veteran while he may have just returned from war. I believe that a veteran should come home, have provided health
Why are veterans considered heroes? I think veterans are heroes. Because, they have fought for our country. Veterans served our country.
The book, Veterans Day by J.J. Jorgens emphasizes the plight of neglected veterans in the United States of America. It presents a story about Mary Jane Morris, a female private detective. One Halloween night, she received an urgent voice message from her ex-partner, Davy, and she rushed to his office only to find him dead. Altogether, it looked like Davy committed suicide, but Mary Jane's instinct told her that there was more to her ex-partner's death. She felt Davy intentionally called her so that she could be the first person to discover his body; he wanted her to obtain clues about his killer.
Maybe it is because from them seeing people getting killed or maybe having to kill someone in war or other experiences they might have had. When a veteran returns home sometimes they can handle what they have seen and faced and some get post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from being in war and some take their own lives. When a veteran comes home like this it has to be hard not just on the veteran but their entire families. Its also hard on the veteran and the families when they leave for war. I think it would be for me just not knowing if they were going to return or not or if they did return could it be the same has when they left.
Patriotism is the dedication; loyalty; devotion; respect; faithful etc. Being a patriot means do whatever it takes to honor your country. In the essay, Veterans Day: Never Forget Their Duty, Mike Christian was a POW, captured by the Vietnam. As stated in the text, he sewed an American flag so him and the other POW’s that were captured could say the pledge of allegiance. He knew he’d get in lots of trouble if he would get caught.
Veterans day is a time once a year that we celebrate on November 11.We celebrate to honer the people in the military for serving this country. On 1919 Woodrow Wilson declared that on November 11 it will always be known as Armistice day. Later on 1954 president Eisenhower change the Armistice day to the day we all know now Veterans day. People around the world celebrate Veterans day to thank the military. Veterans day is now the day we all love and honer the people for serving this
Us Americans should be helping our troops when they come home. We do not treat our veterans right. They fight for our country, but when they come home they are not treated right. The physical, mental and emotional fatigue that comes with serving in combat is immense and many soldiers see their
I myself have to think sometimes about what other people might be going through, even though we have freedom over here, there are many wars happening and many people losing their lives. To me, a veteran is a hero in disguise that live among ordinary people and live ordinary lives. Veterans are people who make sure that when we die, we will die in peace on the very soil where they have walked. They dedicate themselves to defend a nation
Therefore, on the 11th day of each November, we push moments aside to recall and thank living and deceased veterans who shape the world into the sphere it spins as today. Swing by one of these remarkable places to truly reminisce and express gratitude
Whether it is having a moment of silence, or just thanking a veteran, it is important that we do something. They sacrificed a lot for us, and we need to show our appreciation. Memorial day and Veterans day get confused, Memorial day is honoring veterans who have passed away, Veterans day is to honor ALL veterans. They risked or even lost their lives for us and for our country. We need to show them that what they did for us
To me veteran is a person who risked their life so I could live in a better country. Throughout America’s history, we have depended on our soldiers to keep us safe and fight for our country while at the same time fighting for their families and their lives. Without veterans we couldn't enjoy the little things that we do now, we wouldn't be free. They fought for the people who couldn't fight for themselves. I believe that the soldiers who stood on the front lines to fight in wars are very brave.
Ninety-eight years ago, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice was declared between Germany and the Allied Nations in World War I. One year later, it was celebrated as Armistice Day to honor the cause of world peace. After World War II and the Korean War, it was renamed Veterans Day, dedicated to American veterans from any war. The transition from Armistice Day to Veterans Day seems appropriate, for we would not have peace if we did not have veterans. But the implication that veterans are mere preservers of order is a vast misrepresentation; they do much more for our nation.
There are a lot of important reasons why we should honor our veterans. One of the biggest reasons we should honor our veterans is because they risked their lives to protect ours. In some of the scariest, if not the scariest, situations in the world, thousands of soldiers bravely fought for our freedom. Even though they knew the risks, they still decided to go into the military. To this day, many veterans still face side effects of war.
In my opinion, veterans do receive the care they need, but are not provided equal amount of care. Hopefully, with Donald Trump supporting the veterans, during his presidency he will be capable of providing the veterans more support and equality to benefit the veterans needs as well as their
The US has grappled with many questions about society’s obligations as to whether or not to offer services and benefits to the men and women in the armed forces. Supporters argue that helping veterans will help the society as whole and opponents argue that we shouldn’t be increasing our federal government spending in repaying veterans. Although I do see where people can argue that we are spending too much money on helping veterans after war, I believe that the government owes them for what they have done for the country, despite the cost. The government owes certain benefits to veterans because the men and women in the armed forces deserve to be welcomed home with a generous system of services for what they have done for the country. Helping veterans goes way back all the way to the 1600s.
In the United States thousands of veterans are not able to leave behind the horrors and traumatic events they experience while at war. They bring the war home and have to re-experience it in their minds each and every day, no matter how much time has passed since their last battle or traumatic
