Leaders are not all created equal, nor should they be because every person has something different to bring to the table when it comes to accomplishing like missions. While each person in a leadership role may share the same power or mission, that does not mean they will complete it in the same way. When I think about how I have lead people, in the past and present, to complete task that are assigned to me, I can see how other leaders would not like my method. I was brought up in the military style leadership training process of you must be able to do the things that you want your people to do. Burnout in the workplace can happen when people experience physical, psychological, and spiritual fatigue (Bethel, 2017). Burnout can happen when people over-work themselves, work with the wrong type of people, and even when they are in the wrong career path. How can you deal with burnout? Depending on the type of person, dealing with workplace burnout can be dealt with in many ways, such as, change of career, or promotion. Just that change of location or responsibility could lead someone to be rejuvenated, and refocus them on the career they are working in. Someone like myself, I love to take a vacation and just get away from the work environment and just decompress. Going to a beach and relaxing for a week refills my battery and makes me enjoy getting back to work. One way to promote healthy activities and behavior is to allow time to break away from the stress of our jobs and fortify our bodies through leisure and exercise (Jones, W. D., & Daigle, K., 2018). Exercise is another way people can deal with the stressors of the workplace and steer themselves away from workplace burnout. Ultimately, there is always going to be stress in the workplace in some form, the key to defeating it is, to have an outlet that is outside the workplace that allows you to release the built-up
Most of the time, this technique works for me. Each year, I take a two week vacation to wind down and relax. Another burnout prevention that seems to be the most helpful is running. I enjoy the feeling that I receive after a long run. This seems to minimize the level of stress
I have a lot of experience in leadership especially since I started JROTC and have moved up in it in only two years. I have learned many different skills that a leader needs to have, and I have put many of those skills into practice. I have helped organize events and run entire events with the help of a team. The reason that I feel that leadership and service go hand in hand is the fact that you can’t serve without having qualities that a good leader needs to have. You need to be able to take responsibility if you are going to serve.

Burnout Burnout is defined as a psychological syndrome which characterized by three concepts: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and diminished personal accomplishment. Emotional exhaustion refers to lack of energy and feeling that one’s emotion is used up to increase psychological demands. Depersonalization refers to treat other as objects rather than people through uncaring attitudes and behaviors.

It is most efficient to address stress at its origin before the problem advances too much; thus, assessments such as these aim to address the stress levels early (Houdmont and Stravroula 80). After individuals are aware of problems talking more openly and confronting the aspects of mental and emotional health will decrease the progression of work-related stress (Armson 5). A few ways to reduce work place stress include making the most of workday breaks and setting reasonable standards. Even a small amount of personal time for a snack, walk, or a chat can improve mood in the workplace ("Mind/body Health: Job Stress"). My leadership philosophy is a merger of my family and Military concepts of what it means to be an effective leader. My grandmother, a mother of 9 and grandmother of 27, was the heartbeat of our family. She instilled in us the values of hard work, trust and accountability. “You work hard and great things will happen”, “if people do not trust they won’t believe anything you say and nothing you say will matter”, and “when you make a mistake admit it, apologize and try to move on.” These particular quotes, amongst others, were constants in my grandparent’s home and in turn are a part of the foundation of my own leadership philosophy.
This definition of Leadership is best restated by my very own father “A person can demonstrate leadership skills even when not in a leadership position.” Throughout my high school years so far, I have demonstrated leadership mostly in the field of Boy Scouting in two different Troops. I started out my leadership trail in Boy Scouting by becoming a Troop Scribe who as per se the Boy Scout Handbook, 2016 Edition “The Scribe attends and keeps a log of patrol leaders’ council meetings. He records attendance and dues payments of all troop members and records advancement in troop records and on the troop advancement chart.” After that, I ascended into becoming a Patrol Leader and then acting as a Senior Patrol Leader, the highest youth leader of the troop, handling all patrols’ affairs and coordinating with the Scoutmaster for advice and consent.

First and foremost, leaders come in all shapes and forms, there is not one set physical mold for them, but what they all do share are certain characteristics and desires. Leadership in and of itself, is the ability to guide others, take responsibility, and share a vision that inspires and leaves others with a sense of empowerment. Evidently, it takes an exceptional leader to exhibit exceptional leadership skills. Additionally, the most prominent act that all adequate leaders demonstrate is that they are steadily engaged in enhancing their leadership skills. There have been various magnificent leaders throughout history, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Sojourner Truth, Nelson Mandela, and Eleanor Roosevelt.

As the officer in charge of these men who will send them into battle, you would want to be certain that if you send your men into fight that they won’t desert the country or the mission given and that they can be successful in achieving the goal.
Canadian Philosopher Matshona Dhliwayo once stated, “The real power of a leader is in the number of minds he can reach, hearts he can touch, souls he can move, and lives he can change.” As a leader, especially a leader of Soldiers, it is critical to understand your subordinates. There are instances where you will lead diverse groups, and your method of approach to a situation can contradict the values and morals of a different person. If you decide to not recognize and accept these different beliefs, then it can be very dangerous, as people will decide not to follow you. Instead, if you accept these beliefs, not only will you being getting a greater understanding of different beliefs, but you have the capability to inspire, motivate, and earn the trust of your subordinates.

Burnout is same in all individuals with changed dimension of symptoms. In the context of classical definition of burnout, it includes the dimensions of exhaustion, cynicism and professional inefficacy. This points to the fact that exercises in self-development and discipline were key to building leadership qualities. Leaders as mentioned before are role-models in society and when those leadership qualities are nurtured, the society as a whole benefits from them.
