In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, Ponyboy Curtis, a member of a gang called the “greasers” is leaving the movie theater when a group of Socs, short for social, jumps him and Two-Bit along with Johnny while walking Cherry and Marcia home. The two girls agreed to go with them if they don’t fight. Ponyboy and Johnny get to the lot and fall asleep, and don’t wake until 2 o’clock in the morning. When Ponyboy gets home his brothers, Sodapop and Darry, are very worried. Darry and Pony get in a fight and Soda tries to stand up for Pony, but Darry doesn’t like it. Darry slaps Ponyboy, and after soon regrets it because Pony runs out and tells Johnny that they’re running away. Once they get to where they want to go the same Socs that tried to jump them earlier go at them again, and Johnny kills one, Pony and …show more content…
Another similarity is that Ponyboy 's parents were killed in an automobile accident. In both the movie and the book is the heroic attribute of both Johnny and Ponyboy saving those kids in the burning church. Another thing that is the same is that after the rumble Dally and Ponyboy go and see Johnny, and after he dies, Dally goes and robs a store and is then shot down by the police. Some discrepancies between the book and the movie are that in the movie it left out a copious amount of Ponyboy being sick at the end, after Dally was killed. Another difference is that in the movie Darry pushed Ponyboy where as in the book he slapped him, right before Ponyboy and Johnny ran away. I think that at the rumble when Ponyboy got punched first instead of Darry was one of the biggest differences between the movie and the book. A minute contrast between the movie and the book was that in the book they explained the rules before the rumble, but in the movie they did
In my opinion there are a lot of comparisons between the film and the book, but there are also differences between them too, but also they have impacted the audience in both the film and the
One thing that is different in the movie then the book is the Soc’s drive a blue mustang in the movie, but in the book the Soc’s drive a red corvair. Another thing that is different is the vacant lot in the movie is a dirt lot that is surrounded by trees, grass, and bushes with a rode that drives right by it. But in the book the vacant sounds like a old lot that was used for parking cars like at a school u got a parking lot for cars, so that's what i think of it when the story was talking about a vacant lot. In the book when the rumble went down the authors described it as a fight in the dark with gang against gang. In the movie the rumble was a fight right as the sun went down and it was raining hard and everyone was
The book told more details and made the important things pop out. The movie left out a lot of the little things that made a big difference overall. The book of The Outsiders and the movie of The Outsiders had several things in common, but there were also things left out from one that was in the other. In the book, it says that Dally’s hair was blonde, but in the movie it showed him with brown hair.
of the similarities are that Bob still has his Blue mustang . You would think the cars would be different , but they need it . Another is that Johnny still carries his switchblade . They are similar because he could have not carried it in the movie . Next we will talk about the differences .
The Outsiders film departs and comes together with the novel in many ways. The author of The Outsiders is S.E. Hinton. The book was published in 1995.
The first difference I saw between the two is the characters. In the book Percy and Annabeth were 12 years old, and Percy was in middle school. In the book, they were 16 years old and in high school. The age difference changed their personalities. For example, Grover was this scrawny awkward kid, but In the movie he is completely different.
This didn't make sense to Ponyboy yet. After running from the police when johnny stabbed Bob a soc they find themselves in an abandoned church. When Ponyboy returns to society after being in the hospital. He finds himself meeting with Randy, Bob's best friend. Pony is suppried when Randy tells him that he's sorry for Pony and how Bob's parents never gave him limits.
Another difference is that in the movie they go into town, but in the book it 's never mentioned. Something else that was different was that in the book the mood was happy most of the time, while in the movie the mood was sad. A difference between the book and the movie is that in the book momma was going to burn Byron, but in the movie she does not burn him. A big difference is that in the
As Ponyboy was getting attacked, the rest of the Greasers (Dally, Steve, Darry, Sodapop, Two-Bit, and Johnny) showed up at the scene to protect Ponyboy. The gang had successfully outnumbered and scared the Socs off by hurling rocks at them, saving Ponyboy. This shows that the gang takes pride in making sure that they are together when tensions rise. Another event that conveys how the gang fought to defend
A book and a movie can be both the same and different. In The Outsiders there are many similarities and differences with the book and movie. They were the same because Johnny kills a man, they cut their, there was the movie scene, and Johnny and Ponyboy went to the church. Some of the differences is when Darry slaps Ponyboy but in the movie he pushes him, Johnny doesn't bring a lot of food in the book but does in the movie he does, when Johnny killed the man it was more described but it wasn't in the movie, and Johnny says he wants to kill himself in the movie. In The Outsiders one of the themes is “friendship”
For example, in the book, only one person drowns Pony, but in the movie, three people drowned him. This is different because in the book Pony is being drowned at the water fountain by only one person. On the other hand in the movie Pony is getting drowned by three people instead of one like it is in the story. Another comparison between the book and the movie would be when Ponyboy goes to court and doesn’t testify in the book, but in the movie he does. These are different because in the book when Pony has to go to court for the murder of Bob he doesn’t testify in the movie when he goes to court he does testify.
Johnny and Dallas who comes to help them get injured and they go back home to the hospital. After a rumble and a few deaths Ponyboy gets over his trauma and writes his English theme about his story called The Outsiders. This book was made into a movie in 1983. This book is a very good example of a movie with many similarities and differences. It sticks very well to the book but there are several differences as well.
At the beginning of the story, Ponyboy comes home after curfew, making Ponyboy’s brother “Darry” pretty mad, causing them to start fighting and out of mixed emotion, Darry slaps Ponyboy. Next, Ponyboy and another Greaser, “Johnny,” are by a fountain when a couple of Socs attack, and start to drown Ponyboy. Johnny, after being beaten to near death by Socs on an earlier date, kills a Soc named “Bob” with a switchblade, scaring off the other Socs. In the end, Ponyboy is asked to write a composition based on a theme for school and ends up telling his own story (Hinton). Within the novel, the Socs get all the breaks and the Greasers get
A big difference that I found was that the stool in the book only had three legs but in the movie it four. In the book the
The movie and novel share similar qualities. For example, both feature all of the same characters. Ponyboy, Darry, and Sodapop are brothers.
