In the last few decades, abortion has become a much-discussed subject. It has been a central point in many political affairs as in; selecting justices for the Supreme Court, it has also become an issue for candidates for state and local offices as well as for the U.S. Presidency. What exactly is abortion anyway? Depending on who you ask one will always get different answers. The moral question has always been whether or not it should be a woman’s decision to get an abortion. The other side of that question is whether the government should have control over a woman’s body and forbid her to get an abortion. Pro-Choice, though it does take the side of legalizing abortion, it does not mean Pro-abortion. Pro-choice is the right in choosing whether to reproduce, adopt, or abort. I believe a woman should have the right to choose whether to keep the baby if she knows that she is willing to take up such a huge responsibility. In the article “Abortion is too complex to feel all one way about”, Anna Quindlen provides her views on abortion and some life events that changed her view. She tells us multiple stories about seeing other women having to face the decision to either have an abortion or keeping the child. She has seen relationships fall apart because of this. Anna ends up having two children of her own and sees that it can be overwhelming. Anna asks her husband if he would want her to get an abortion if she accidentally becomes pregnant again and his response was “And why waste a
The Keynote Address: Untying the Moral Knot of Abortion, was given by Caitlin E. Borgmann at the Washington and Lee School of law on November 8, 2014. Borgmann’s main goal of her address was to bring back to attention that abortion should be seen as a woman’s own right in making decisions regarding her own body. She talks about how people have become so focused on the morality of the fetus that they have lost sight of the real reason that abortion should be legal. Borgmann feels that it is the woman’s right to have a choice and freedom over their body and the freedom to choose whether or not to have an abortion. The speaker asks why people question the age and status of the fetus, but do not concern themselves to question the rights of the woman that carries the fetus.
There are many women who have been raped and it can be argued that ethically they have the right to have an abortion as they did not choose to get pregnant, but in Christianity’s view a life is a life, regardless of how it occurred. Christians are said to be apart of the pro-life arguments (Ridder, Karen. "Abortion: 5 Pro-Life Arguments Made by Christians.) Abortion runs counter to most Christian beliefs. Even those denominations that support the right, believe that abortion is most-often not the right choice.
So abortion is federally legal in the U.S. but different states may ban it or not for their own personal reasons. This topic is very controversial because many different people have different opinions on this topic. For example the two main opinions are called pro life and pro choice. The people who support pro life believe that all life is important and that an abortion should never happen unless to save the mother. The opposite opinion of pro life is pro choice and these people believe that it 's the woman 's choice to decide whether or not they want to have an abortion.
The pro-choice/pro-life is a major argument in politics in the United States today. However it is not so simple as pro-choice and pro-life. Pro-choice has been coined to mean that women should have the right to choose abortion and it should be a legal option. Pro-life has been connected with the banning of abortion and looking at a fetus as a life so abortion is basically murder. However this pro-life view has gotten very convoluted.
People who are pro-life, believe abortion should not be legal, while some people believe that the fetus is not a living person therefore it should be legal. There are also people who are in the middle, they are neutral, they are neither for or against abortions. If abortion is illegal then it will still happen. Women would still find a way to still have abortions but, they will be taking a greater risk in having them done. Abortion affects many people.
Abortion: Pro-Choice Women are in desperate need of our help as one of their rights is being taken away from them. Abortion is a right and choice that every woman should have but when Roe. V. Wade got overturned, it caused this right to go away. Regarding Abortion there are 2 types of people, Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. Being Pro-Choice means you believe women should have the choice to have an Abortion or to not have an Abortion.
They believe the mother should carry the child to term, and if she doesn’t want to keep the child just put it up for adoption. pro-choice people don’t agree with this. Pro-life believe that it’s not fair because once that child finds out he/she will wonder why the mother didn’t want them, or the mother if she decides to keep the baby there’s chances that the child could be abused or neglected because of the circumstances under which the child was conceived. Pro-life still believe adoption is a better idea under those circumstances. Who knows what big things that child could do in the future and you’re taking away the chance for them to become
On Friday, June 24, 2022, the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs decision, the landmark piece of legislation that made access to abortion legal. After this event took place, the quarrel over abortion began to increase. Abortion has always been a topic of debate for many years. In 1971, six states legalized abortion in the United States and Americans split into two sides, Pro-life and Pro-choice. Looking over the viewpoints and perspectives of pro-life and pro-choice, finding common ground between the two may be elusive, but not impossible.
Pro Abortion Seventy seven percent of anti-abortion leaders are men. One hundred percent of them will never become pregnant. Abortions still would not stop if made illegal, it is the woman’s body, so it is the woman’s choice, and also having an abortion prevents child neglect. If having an abortion was illegal, women would still go along with the procedure.
Abortion is a very sensitive issue. Many people are constantly debating whether or not abortion should be allowed or not. Some people think abortion is very bad and that it should not be allowed at all. They think abortion is like committing murder as it is killing the human fetus. Others feel that the parents should have the right to choose and it is not murder until the baby is born.
Abortion is a sensitive topic. There are good reasons on both sides of the argument. Discussing abortion can help us understand the pros and cons of abortion and how it can help or hurt our country. Abortion could possibly benefit our country in multiple ways, financial and in terms of safety. Abortion should be legal.
One of the most controversial topics right now is the choice of an abortion and how it might be a way of legalized murder, with mothers having to choose whether to support or deny the discovery. Looking further into the subject, it’s very clear why the subject has divided the nation. From fundamentalists questioning it as murder, and doctors restoring relationships, there is always an argument about it. The essential question to ask in this discussion is whether women should have the right to make the decision on abortions.
The two sides of the debate are pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life is the people who do not like the idea of abortion. They claim that life begins at conception and that abortion is murder. They also say that the fetus can feel pain during the abortion and that it is unfair to families that cannot conceive on their own that are waiting to adopt
The topic of abortion has always been, and still is, a widely debated subject. No one can agree on whether or not the fetus is a person, whether or not abortions are dangerous, or whether or not abortions should be made legal everywhere. The list for arguments from both pro-choice and pro-life advocates is endless. Whether one believes abortions should be banned completely or they should be legalized everywhere, many arguments point to beneficiality of abortions. Abortion should be accessible to women because philosophical, moral, and ethical arguments prove that abortion is much more beneficial than it is harmful.
Abortion presents itself as a religious, moral, economic and legal question. And curiously enough, it also essentially a scientific, biological question. Is the child in utero a human being, a person? Or is a fetus non-human. Or sub-human matter, and if so, at what “point in time” does the fetus become a human being?
