The Rise Of The Tea Party

Thomas Fitzsimons was born In 1741, in Ireland (exact date and place unknown) and died August 26th, 1811 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fitzsimons and his family traveled from Ireland to Philadelphia, in the mid 1750’s. In 1763 Thomas went into the trading business, with his new brother in law, George Meade. When Parliament reacted to the 1773 Boston Tea Party with punitive measures, which the Americans called the Coercive Acts, Fitzsimons felt that if British warships could close the port of Boston, no city in America was truly safe. These concerns forced Thomas into the patriotic cause and politics.

In the 1774, the first Continental Congress was put together. The Congress was a meeting of delegates from all except one of the thirteen colonies. They all met to discuss what shall be done about the “Intolerable Acts” that was being passed as a response for the” Boston Tea Party”. The meeting elected fifty-six delegates from the colonies except Georgia. Georgia did not want to upset Britain because they required help from Britain about Georgia’s Native American problem.

The American colonists held the Boston Tea Party on December, 1773. It was not a party though. It was a protest against taxs from England. The British Parliament had already taxed sugar, coffee, wine, and newspapers. The tea tax was too much.

The Coercive Acts were a series of acts set up as a consequence of the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was a “famed act of American colonial defiance served as a protest against taxation. Seeking to boost the troubled East India Company, British Parliament adjusted import duties with the passage of the Tea Act in 1773. The turmoil, upheaval, and controversy of the 2016 Trump election is a significant current event of the modern world, but this landslide election is not the first in America’s history to raise such conflicting opinions. The Revolution of 1800 was another shift in political history that impacted not only the candidates, but majority of the public. The defeat of John Adams to Vice President Thomas Jefferson led to the rise of the Democratic-Republican Party rule and the eventual demise of the Federalist Party. Often in politics, opposing views, scandals, and negative publicity plays a role in the election process, due to this, in both the 2016 election and 1800 election negative criticism from both parties was evident. It was two years later after the Boston Tea Party the war began. Parliament passed four Acts collectively known as The Coercive Acts between the two, which made them angry. the Tea Party was a key trigger but not the only one, the war had been long brewing. There were many arguments over religion and government. Here are some other reasons The Revolutionary War started, the British (redcoats) were starting to take over, and the Americans didn 't like it.

December 16, 1773 was the day that American history changed. George Robert Twelves Hewes was a shoemaker in Boston that was determined to help the colonies gain freedom from Britain. He took part in important events in Boston that led up to the Revolution (Young 33). Since Hewes was not a leader in the patriotic acts of the Revolution, he was quickly forgotten.

To start off, the Boston tea party was one of the causes of the American Revolution But before we get into the Boston tea party, we have to know a few things about the French and Indian War. Basically Britain and France fight a war for control over North America from 1756 to 1763. Britain wins, however they went into a big amount of debt fighting in it. After the war, the government of the British decided that the American colonist had to help pay that debt.

Due to this big gap, the Populists were shocked that free-silver was proven to be too weak of an issue to base a national campaign off of (Boyer). It showed that the immigrants and urban workers gained little from the democratic campaign, therefore, they voted for Mckinley. Now that Mckinley had won the election, there were improvements in farmers’ economic conditions, and the power of the Populist Party was brought to an end. The platform of the Populist Party did leave fundamentals for future reform (Boyer). Although The Boston Tea Party cost Great Britain a great deal of important resources it was a necessary event for the Colonists to get their freedom. The British Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts to punish the Colonies for dumping British goods in the harbor. The Boston Tea Party also paved the way for the Revolutionary War. Therefore the American way of life would be extremely different today had the Boston Tea Party never happened.

And some people wonder why they did that and historic events show that there were French Indian War before that make the colonists to have an economic crisis so they can pay for the products.
