In discussing the overview of Eysenck’s Three Factor Model I will compare and contrast the basic assumptions of this model and the psychodynamic model of personality regarding differences between healthy and unhealthy personalities. In addition, this paper will provide details on The Big Five Model and include a reflection of my direct test results in which I scored on each of the five traits. Personality traits are defined as relatively enduring patterns of behavior, thought, …show more content…
According to the Big Five Personality Test, 2018, “Openness describes a person’s way of thinking and looking at things in a different way, people who score high in openness tend to be more creative, adventurous, intellectual and artistically inclined”. Conscientiousness describes a person’s ability to exercise control or self-discipline. Extraversion describes a person’s need for stimulation from others in the outside world. People who are typically high in extraversion are motivated by achievements and have a need to be admired, for power and romance. According to Truity Big Five Personality Test (2018) “These people tend to be friendly, high energy ambitious and adventurous”. Agreeableness describes a person’s tendency to put the needs of others before their own needs, and how they cooperate instead of compete with others. “These people tend to be kind, sensitive and compassionate” (Big Five Personality Tests, 2018). “Those that score high in agreeableness tend to keep friends for longer and are less likely to fall out with people. The final trait is neuroticism, which describes a person’s tendency to experience negative emotions, including fear, sadness, anxiety, guilt, and shame” (The Big Five Personality Test, 2018). Everyone experiences these emotions but those that score high in Neuroticism are prone to them. Neuroticism is not considered an asset too many people, and is …show more content…
I have found that I prefer to work in an environment where I can interact with others and build a relationship with them, rather than changing my team frequently as I enjoy true relationships. I have found myself changing over the years and as my environment changes my personality slightly adapts or changes along with the new experiences. I am proof that your DNA and how you were raised do not solely define ones personality. Personalities can change as your immediate environment
Karl Lagerfeld once said, “Personality begins where comparison ends”. When trying to figure out who you are as a person and what your personality is like it is often tempting to compare your personality traits and states to those of the people around you. However, this is tends to do more to confuse than help when trying to figure out your own personality. Only by looking at yourself and the bigger picture your personality traits and states create that you can truly understand yourself and your personality. The two assessments taken before this assignment are designed to help with this process.
How Personality Can Surprisingly Affect Your Health? Our personality defines us and subsequently affects how the work we do and how we live. Empirical studies quantify the economic returns to personality traits are fixed and its easier to determine which customer would buy a particular product, (Heineck and Anger, 2010, Mueller and Plug, 2006 and Nyhus and Pons, 2005). Almlund et al. (in press) argue that–in comparison to cognitive ability–personality traits are responsive to individual behaviours. Today in psychology there are 5 main factors in a person’s personality, those 5 factors are called The Big Five. The Emotional Assessment Personality Test reviewed and scored my personality in six different areas. There were about one hundred questions, and I was to rate how each question related to myself. After completion of the Emotional Assessment Test my top rated personality trait is Conscientiousness (Condon, n.d.). Though this was my highest scoring trait, I only ranked about the seventieth percentile. This indicates that I am somewhat conscientious.
The concept of personality has fascinated psychologists for years. Allport proposed the hierarchy of traits – cardinal, central, and secondary traits (Allport, 1945). Cattell also proposed his theory, the sixteen dimensions of human personality (Cattell, 1944). Jung developed a type-based theory of personality, with different dichotomous personality categories, which was further developed by Myers and Briggs in 1962 to produce the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (Ford, 2013). Some psychologists have even argued that personality does not exist; that people change behaviour over time and across various situations.
Various variables used to identify “problem officers” are extroversion, emotional stability, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience. These variables are known as the big five, and coexist with personality characteristics. First, extroversion personality is outgoing, full of life, and positivity. Second, emotional stability is having control over one emotions and having an equal balance known as equilibrium. Third, agreeableness is a personality trait that is usually kind, warm, and sympathetic.
This trait includes characteristics suca tendency to be compassionate and cooperative rather than suspicious
Personality is one of the main areas of psychology research. Over the years, researchers developed theories trying to explain how people are different and similar. Personality traits were grouped together to be determinants of more general traits such as Extraversion, Agreeableness or Neuroticism. The traits were tested for various correlations. All this to better understand why people behave the way they do and how big impact does the personality have on behaviour.
The Big Five Personality Traits are divided into five broad characteristics, which is basically used to describe the variations of human personality. The various characteristics are: • Openness • Agreeableness • Conscientiousness • Neuroticism • Extraversion This model has gained particular popularity as it shows the different traits in a person which comes up with the situational change around the person. Shritika is an entrepreneur by profession and thus meets a lot of client in her workplace. Thus, she shows the trait of Conscientiousness in her behavior of enjoying her work and meeting up new clients is a part of her job role.
Personality is defined as the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual 's unique character. Personality theory is the approaches to understanding the “What”, “How” and “When” of characteristics and features that make up an individual 's personality. An insight into personality is important to understand the function of a person’s mind. By doing this you would be able to understand and observe your own psyche from an outside perspective, interact with others better and understand why they do what they do or predict how someone may react to something. My personality can be describe as Introverted since I am reserved, practical and quiet.
For extraversion, as my parents encourage me to take part in volunteer work, I can meet lots of friend and express my ideas without worries. Hence, I score 70 %. For Agreeableness, although my parents stress the significance

The study of personality traits has fascinated psychologists over the years, including individuals like Gordon Allport and Raymond Cattell, who mainly defined personality through different techniques, each attempt at defining personality culminated in multiple theories of personality and their types which are seen across all behavioral characteristics. While reviewing the literature on personality, it was noted that over the years research has shown consistently that personality traits do indeed influence various aspects of human lives like academic performance
