Tyranny In The Outsiders

What this shows is that Darry would beat up Dally if he got found out that Dally got Ponyboy and Johnny out of town with money and a gun, which means that all he is doing is sticking up for his brothers. He doesn’t want them to get into any trouble or run away.

Having to care for 8 more kids can influence the way anyone plans out their life which is why Darrel is influenced so significantly by his only family. This novel by S.E Hinton, The Outsiders shows a crucial point that everybody is special in some way and should be known as who they are individuality not as a group. The Outsiders is a book that describes 2 gangs , the luxurious Socs, and the hoodlum Greasers. While they have conflicts with each other, the protaganist, Ponyboy, finds his identity outside of the gang. The important message of the story is that everyone has a unique personality that are developed by being in a group of people away from home, this identity can shape anyone’s way of life and the path they may take in the future. First of all, Socs and greasers have a trademark that showed who was part of their gang, Socs are know for Mustangs, Madras, and leather jackets;

he don’t mean nothin’. He’s just got more worries that someone his age ought to. Don’t take him serious . . . you dig, Pony? Don’t let him bug you. He’s really proud of you ‘cause you’re so brainy.

In the novel “The Outsiders” , by S.E Hinton, Darry made a choice that ultimately drove the plot. Ponyboy comes home late at night , and Darry caught and yelled furiously at him for being out late and as Soda tries to defend him he became angry and slapped Ponyboy. The moment when Ponyboy came home, Darry acts furious as the text states, “Where have you been? Do you know what time it is.’ He was madder than I’d seen him in a long time.

Dally is not strong mentally (when he couldn’t let Johnny go), he really does not do good deeds, and he does not care about any other people than only Johnny, and he’s rude to others and bad at using words. A quotation that supports my statement is, “What for? Get back in here before I beat your head in.” (p.90) This quotation supports my statement because Dally said this to Ponyboy when he hopped off the car and said to see what the deal is when he saw the old church on fire, it proves that Dally does not care about other stuff that does not involve him and that he’s rude to others and using

Darry is also a hero when he took care of Ponyboy when he was sick. According to the text on page 160 it says “ He crawled over me and flopped down and before Darry came back in with the soup we were both asleep.”

So, as Ponyboy constantly reminds us, Darry works all the time at two jobs, one of which is roofing. He doesn't have much of a life outside of work, the gym, and his responsibilities at home. This proves the point that he teaches the gang to stand up for themselves and what they believe in because he is an inspiration to the greasers, making them want to be like him, strong and resilient. In this book report I will talk about the book “The outsiders” written by S.E. Hinton, I will do a review of the story, the point of view, theme, symbols and my opinion about this book I really liked to read for the English class. The story is about a boy named Ponyboy who lived in a small town in Texas with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop were a gang war was taking place between two different social class people: The Socs and the Greasers. Ponyboy will learn the consequences bad acts can bring to your life in the middle of a gang war. The greasers were a middle class and not so social kind of people who liked to get in trouble and The other gang The Socs were a most of them a high class or middle-high class group of people who where they went they will always go in groups of like three or four people.

Sacrifice, care, bravery, courage, etc; but only one of the characters in the novel exhibits all of the above qualities and is a true hero. Some of the heroic characteristics that were present were sacrifice and caring. Darry exhibits sacrifice and care when he gives up a college scholarship in order to take care of his brothers. Ponyboy vouches for his brother’s character stating that Darry “had been a real popular guy in school; he was captain of the football team and he had been voted Boy of the year”, but goes on to lament that at this point in the story he “didn’t have time between jobs to even think about college”(16).

“Darrel, who we call Darry, works too long and hard to be interested in a story or drawing a picture, so I 'm not like them.” (P.3) Darrel and Ponyboy are really different, both of their personalities clash with each other. While Ponyboy is creative and adventurous, Darrel is just too worked up and does not share the same likes of Ponyboy.
