Immunizations can save a child’s life; due to the medical advances that have taken place, kids are now protected from many illness/ diseases. At one point in time, Polio was a horrible illness that is now preventable by simply receiving a shot (USDHHS, n.d.). Immunizations protect not only the individual receiving the vaccination, but others as well. Certain individuals are not suitable for specific vaccinations, therefore, if everyone else has the vaccination, the people who cannot are more likely to be safe from the illness (USDHHS, n.d). Generally, immunizations are safe, effective, cheaper in the long run, and can save families time.

Pro Vaccination Since the invention of vaccines, it has created a huge impact worldwide. As a child begins to start school, their required by the state to receive their twelve routine shots. The children who receive all their shots have a greater chance of not contracting any diseases. Throughout the years, vaccination or otherwise known as immunization has been a hugely controversial issue worldwide and whether or not to vaccinate children. However, vaccines are an effective and key role in keeping the human population healthy and safe.

With advances in technology, we have developed a large number of very effective vaccines, however we have also uncovered disadvantages to vaccinating against diseases. Most states mandate that children get 29 individual doses of nine different vaccines to attend kindergarten [3]. Not all federally recommended vaccines are required as a condition of employment, and school or day care attendance in all states, but they are strongly recommended of the safety of adults, children and the elderly. But how safe are vaccines really? The people who support vaccines, their use, and the laws that require people of all ages to be vaccinated, believe that yes, vaccines are safe.

By getting vaccinated people are not only looking out for themselves they are also looking out for the people close to them. When a person gets vaccinated they do not have to worry about getting sick and they also do not have to worry about being the reason their family and friends get sick either. If a deadly disease is going around and a person is not vaccinated they have a higher chance of contracting the disease and getting deathly ill. Traffic lights only work when all people follow the rules. If a car runs a red light, the car runs the risk of killing innocent pedestrians who are complying with the prescribed rules. Natural or not, there are many reasons as to why we should vaccinate us and the younger generation. Most of the time children don’t like vaccination because it hurt, but is the responsibility of a parent to seek the wellbeing of his or her child. As vaccination prevents an individual from contracting a particular disease, the individual will not be a carrier for that disease, thus limiting the spread of the disease to others.

The reasoning behind many parents when choosing not to vaccinate their children is usually based on the perceived risk of vaccinations because there are risks when putting chemicals into the human body.
