The Freeway Killer William George Bonin was a pedophile serial killer who targeted mainly young teenage boys, especially hitchhikers. He kidnapped, raped, tortured, and confessed to murdering up to twenty-one victims across southern California between 1979 and 1980. His parents and the government system failed him in getting the help he needed as a child. During his stay in the orphanage, no parents visited him and as a result, he worried they were dead. He targeted young men who would hitchhike and who were easily convinced to get in the van with him. He repeatedly picked a kid every week and when he was done with the victim he would dump the body beside a freeway or an alley. He would strangle his victims while raping them, sodomizing them, beating them, and stabbing them. Bonin had 4 accomplices that would help him capture and kill his victims: Vernon Butts,Gregory M. He would go to the docks to help out the men and they would always ask him if he was a slave and if he was a slave for life. They would tell him he would be free at 21 but when he turned 21 he didn’t become free but still was a slave. Many times in his life he wanted to die and wished he hadn’t existed. The only thing that kept him alive was the thought of escaping or being freed.

The first victim in a long list of lives lost was Marcus Grabs, a seventeen year old German student traveling the United States. Marcus was stabbed a total of seventy seven times, sodomized and strangled to death.

He would often kill with knife, hammer, and gun, rape victims genitally, orally, and anally, and on a random occurrence would mess with the bodies after being deceased, rarely, he would let his victims live.
