Why Abortion Is Wrong

When Norma L. Out of all pregnancies 4 in 10 babies are aborted. There are roughly 57 million unborn children that are killed in the U.S. alone. That is about 155 babies per hour and around 1 every 24 seconds. Instead of having an abortion, women can choose a more beneficial option, such as giving the baby up for adoption. Abortion is the deliberate killing of the weakest and the most defenseless among us. No one has the right to take the life of another person, even an unborn child. Abortion usually ends up hurting the mother as the emotional effects become worse and worse. This problem is even more common when there is pressure by others on the woman to have the abortion, and she does so reluctantly. Adoption is a lot safer than abortion, if people knew the facts about abortion I bet they would rather give their child for adoption rather than having an abortion.

A controversial topic that has been running rapidly through the streets is the legalization of abortion. Is there ever a case where abortion should be considered morally justifiable? This is the question that I will be examining in this essay. I will begin this essay by considering why abortion is justified using the argument by Marie-Anne Warren (1989). I will then cover why abortion is considered an immoral act as objection to my points, specifically I will be looking at the argument of Don Marquis (1989) who believes abortion falls into the same area as murdering somebody in context of morals. In this essay I will be arguing that abortion is morally justifiable under specific sets of circumstances, one circumstance would be abortion is justified if the pregnancy is the result of an act of rape on the mother.
