The Outsiders is a novel that experiences the themes of divided communities, identity, the issues of violence and family, and also the importance of friendship. Although the book was written over 50 years ago by S.E Hinton, I think this novel still remains relevant today in 2023. Even though The Outsiders was published in 1967, the issues that were addressed are still happening in today’s world. One of the most important themes of the novel is divided communities. The characters in The Outsiders are divided into two groups, the “greasers” and the “Socs”.
