Why Writing Is Hard

Since graduate school I have identified that I have trouble writing papers on subjects that are not of interest to me. I struggle to remain focus, and I get writer’s block often. It has been established that when and individual has selective attention they are generally working at the basic levels of perceptual identification (Weber & Johnson, 2009). One solution that I have utilized was taking scheduled breaks from completing the assignment. This would include reading a journal or two with taking notes than take a break.

I end up going on my laptop to look up a reference to one of the historical figures and end up watching a video about a completely different topic. The Internet has changed the way I read. Instead of reading word for word from a website I scan the page quickly looking over what the page has to say. I then either find an interesting fact or look to another page.

I also have difficulty with reading other papers. I get side-tracked frequently. I have learned how to highlight parts that catch my attention and then I can come back and reread the highlights to figure out what I want to take for the paper I read. When i identify the question, distill the hints, clues, there 's focus. When you are writing, those hints, those clues have always been there. They have been obvious, yet not been. You need a focus. When i have a question, random things,all the flotsam and jetsam, become relevant, become obvious.

My choice in words always tend to make my assignments sound unripe. I agree in my past that i have been lazy when writing and reading that was before i realized my child like writing would not get me far in ninth grade. My history as a writer has been a bit of a struggle of slow development. From a young age I had a hard time with spelling and this is still a trouble area for me, even with the help of autocorrect. As I grew in age and as a writer my problematic area became not including enough nitty gritty details. My bad experiences that I recall would always involve the start of writing because I struggle with beginning paragraphs. Also, I tend to use the ending paragraph to just repeat myself, so overall my first and last paragraphs are usually shit.

Writing process is difficult to realize since it requires a lot of skills and knowledge. Definitely, not many of us can start writhing right away without having any problems such as grammar, vocabulary or organization. However, a person can become a better writer if he or she will practice writing every day and will pay attention to his writing problems. To become a good writer, I have to improve my grammar, follow specific steps in writing process, and avoid using similar transitional words. Grammar is the number one problem in the writing process and causes me a lot of issues.

Like I said writing was hard for me. I think the reason being that I was able to read well so I didn 't have much to write about other than the stuff I heard. Even then, If I did write was wasn 't going to be able to read it. Now that I could do both better my doors have open

Many people dread writing. Often times they do not like writing because of common myths that follow writing. Actually, if I’m being honest, my family sucks at writing. I was never placed in any special writing classes, but only the standard classes for school. I joined Intermediate composition to excel in my writing for my future. From this class, I’ve broadened my vocabulary and found new ways to check my pieces that I have wrote. It was also of great concern to me that I make writing; many times in the form of memos and emails, easy to read and not lose any information in translation. This was a misconception which I let affect my writing. It took quite a bit of time to broaden my structure and become comfortable writing more elaborately. The way that Malcolm Gladwell wrote in, How To Be a Success, was very refreshing. It is meticulously written; both efficient and elaborate.
