American women of the late 1800’s struggled with no rights in the government, considered inferior, and married women had no separate identity from her husband. Women in the 1600s to the 1800s were very harshly treated. They were seen as objects rather than people. They were stay-at-home women because people didn’t trust them to hold jobs. They were seen as little or weak. Women living in this time period had to have their fathers choose their husbands.

They were to leave any hobby or job to take care of there family, and home. They weren’t entitled to a real education or to obtain professional career. Once married, they had no right to there own property, sign a contract or stay with their wages too top all of this inequality women weren’t allowed to vote. We all know that women didn 't have as many rights as men, and they still don 't. Women can now do more than they used to, but they still aren 't equal with men. They have had to fight for so many things like the right to vote and to be equal to men. The 19th amendment, the one that gave women the right to vote, brought us a big step closer. The Equal Rights Movement also gave us the chance to have as many rights as men. Women have always stayed home, cleaned the house, and didn 't even get an education.
