Situations that are most likely to trigger stress are those that are volatile or uncontainable, vague, indistinct or unknown or linking inconsistency, loss or performance hope. Stress can rise by time constrained events, such as the anxiety of examinations or work deadlines, or by enduring situations, such as family tension, job uncertainty, or extensive commuting journeys. (Michie, 2002)
Chronic stress on employees can have immediate collision on the organization itself, resulting in a variety of problems such as high absenteeism, and turnover (Parker & Decotiis, 1983), poor industrial relations, poor productivity, high accident rates, poor organizational climate, low morale, antagonism at work, and job dissatisfaction (Chen & Spector, 1992)

Work place factors that contribute to stress and health risks can be categorized into two; those that are regarding the content of work, and those regarding the organizational and social context of the work. Moreover, the intrinsic factors include lengthy hours, work overload, time pressure, difficult or multifarious tasks, lack of breaks, lack of diversity, and poor physical work conditions (for example, space, temperature, light). (Michie, 2002)
Work that is not clear, or that created role conflict and boundaries are also causes to stress. Additionally, containing responsibility for people is another root cause to stress. The prospective for job improvement is a momentous defence against existing stress, with under promotion, lack of training, and job insecurity being stressful. Relationships at work and the organizational culture are two additional sources of stress. Managers who are decisive, tough, uncooperative or bullying generate stress, while an optimistic social aspect of work and good team working reduces it. (Michie,

Stress, as mentioned above can be quite hazardous to an individual as well as the organization itself. Therefore, in order to have a well-working organization, stress must be reduced or completely erased. The benefits of a stress-free work place include an improved employee retention and recruitment, improved employee engagement, thereby reducing absenteeism. Decreased disability coverage expenses, improved productivity and growth, reduced risks of workplace accidents and injuries, and advanced employee self-esteem. (Having a Stress-Free Workplace,
Unit 2 Assignment: Diagnostic Writer’s Response Whether it is a little or a lot, everyone experiences stress at some point. Stress does not always have a negative effect, most of the time the effects can be positive. On the other hand stress is associated with the development of most major mental health problems such as depression, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and pathological aging (Marin, 2011). It has also been linked to all leading physical causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke (Cohen, Janicki-Deverts, & Miller, 2007).
The NIOSH establishes what they think is the most useful approach to prevent stress which involves three steps: identify the problem, design and implement interventions, and evaluate the interventions (Minter). They believe that by locating the problem companies can redesign specifics areas to reduce stress level, and then evaluate the issues to determine if it is producing lasting effects. First, for an individual to reduce the risk they need to be aware of the problem. In addition, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 even requires employers to conduct regular assessments of the risk of stress-related illness as a result of people’s work (Maynard). The Health and Safety Executive has a similar approach to assessment that includes identifying the hazards, deciding who might be harmed and how, evaluating the risk by identifying what action you are already taking, determining whether or not it is enough, deciding what further action is required, recording the assessment 's significant findings, and reviewing the assessment at suitable intervals (Maynard).
Even though students have been taking standardized test for decades, parents and educators are just now realizing that standardized testing could be harmful to students. Standardized testing has been a problem , causing controversy since the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Although standardized testing helps pinpoint weak spots and evaluate students progress, it can cause students to have mental health issues. Stress has been a top leading issue students have to face from standardized test for the past few years. Stress is a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances.

‘Stress is like a storm- anything from a quick cloudburst to a hurricane’. (Wisniewski, 2013) Causes of stress would be identified as overload of work, overcrowding at work, inadequate physical space, high level of noise in the work unit, double shifts, no breaks, lack of support from other workers, government restricting the amount of staff on duty at one time, patients and complaints from patients and family members, staff members, malfunctioning of equipment will lead to not getting the job done in time, financial situation, outside stress been taken into work. Humans are a social animal, our world is what it is right now thanks to the ability of humans to interact and work in unison. Just as a machine, any business works as a set of pieces or parts, in this case employees, which should move together towards a common goal. What happens then when one of those pieces is not working properly? Even further on, what happens when one of those pieces directly affects all of the other pieces in the machine? In her article “No Time to Be Nice at Work”, Christine Porath explores the alarming increase of workplace bullying as well as the consequences, which can even be deathly, of work related stress.
Focusing on individual needs of employees and aiming to meet those needs will result in a better environment for everyone. I know that there are so many employers that can't see the importance of their employees; maybe they may say that they can hire many more if someone will decide to leave them, because
Also try to encourage employees to try relaxation methods such as yoga and meditation. This helps body and mind to get de-stressed from strenuous work

Stress refers to a dynamic interaction between the individual and the environment. In this interaction, demands, limitations and opportunities related to work may be perceived as threatening to surpass the individual's resources and skills. Stress is any physical or psychological stimulus that disturbs the adaptive state and provoked a coping response The increasing interest in stress research is probably because we live in a world that includes many stressful circumstances and stress has been a global phenomenon. It has become an integral part of life and is said to be the price we all pay for the struggle to stay alive.
Goal setting helps the person reduce job ambiguity and take control of their job demands because they will know exactly what is needed of them to succeed (Lehrer et al, 1994). Mentoring in the work place can help reduce stress levels by a large amount due to the fact that employees can reply on someone else in the organisation for metal support and guidance (Lehrer et al, 1994). Employee Assistance Programs are useful in buffering the negative effects of stress because it is there to help employees get through difficult times and acts as an intervention program to further detriments to employees when they are having personal issues. Mind Tree allowing women to take one year of leave for every six years of working is an example of this. This allows for the employee to prioritize her personal life and family, which could reduce or eliminate work-family
As employees experience stress-related problems, organizations often become interested in finding ways to manage the stress more effectively. Discuss work role stressors, including job ambiguity, role conflict, lack of control, physical work conditions, interpersonal stress, and organizational change. Job Ambiguity (role ambiguity) occurs when an individual employee is uncertain about his or her job responsibilities or performance. Role conflict occurs when an individual feel that her job responsibilities is conflicting with her other roles. For example, a mother who works full time is conflicting with her role as a mother.
• Work related stress: when employees become over stressed they tent to not be as productive as expected, it can also cause an employee to have a mental breakdown. Because of work overload employees cannot do everything expected from them which causes conflict in the workplace because production time goes lost and productivity goes down. Some stress may be caused by personal factors which may cause employees to be unhappy and take out ‘bad moods’ on co-workers. An example out of the case study is when Alex and Mandy feels that they have to work hard to prove that they are worthy of the position and title
