Apart from regular course work, I volunteered at NGO, “Make A Difference”. We aim at eradicating illiteracy by educating unprivileged children. I’ve been a part of various blood donation camps at VIT and ARAI. I worked as a core-committee member of student’s chapter Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and volunteered in college cultural fest Riviera under ISTE which helped me improve my communication and organisational skills. Due to such involvement in extracurricular, I developed the ability to comfortably work in heterogeneous groups and a lot of managerial skills like time management and team-work.

Describe the major art project of Jacob Lawrence; discuss his style, theme, purpose, materials, and the reason why his work is so important to the Harlem Renaissance. • The major art project of Jacob Lawrence that he is best known for is the “Migration Series” which was originally entitled “Migration of the Negro”. Lawrence is known for his dynamic cubism style which is an abstract art. In addition, his paintings showed a comparison of black and brown v. vivid colors.

I learned to prioritize and stay on top of multiple projects while maximizing my service as a Student Worker. Working alongside with a team of enthusiastic individuals has taught me to always have a positive attitude and to be passionate about every aspect of the job. As a NYU CAS Transfer Orientation volunteer, I had a great experience collaborating with other dynamic team members. As a team of previous transfer students, we understood the fear, confusion, and uncertainty one could have as a new transfer. We incorporated our experience to design individualized activities to smoothen the transitions of the new transfers into the NYU community.

At Columbia, I especially hope to impact the local New York community through service, as with my extensive experiences as a Boy Scout, I have grown to love volunteer work to help the world. Since I first entered Scouting, I have always had the opportunity to participate in the various Eagle Scout projects of the troop, constantly learning new skills and enjoying my time working with my friends. My experiences in service eventually led to my own Eagle Scout project to design a water conservation system, helping a local garden and teaching younger scouts the basics of construction. I am a first year student and I was looking for opportunities to be more involved in the Ryerson community. I do have experience in volunteering at an elementary school in the Peel District School Board and I personally enjoyed my time as a volunteer in the past. As a volunteer I had the responsibilities of grading test, assisting students that had difficulty with lessons, planning activities, and supervising students to ensure a safe working environment. Schooling: Although education is taught in schools, schools have a very different role than education as previously discussed. Schools should be the institutions in which our students are able to partake in a well-rounded curriculum-based education. Schools are the institution that should foster a physically and emotionally safe environment where students are able to express their developing ideas and emotions. This type of environment creates an academically nurturing atmosphere where students are allowed to express new ideas about their education but also a place where they can discuss their views on the world events around them. School institutions are a place that students are able to relate social events happening in the world.

Experience, according to Shakespeare, is “the teacher of all great things.” The best benefit about an experience is that its gains are not restricted to only one person. Not only can one gain knowledge, wisdom, and understanding from experience, but one can also use these experiences to reach and encourage others. Through my experiences in volunteering, sports, work, and life, I have become a contributor, collaborator, communicator, challenger, and enlightener. I am constantly trying to help and empower others, and I am excited to use my voice and experiences to contribute to the Towson community by introducing diversity, encouraging and motivating others with my life stories, and helping to challenge others to improve in particular areas of

Since my sophomore year, I have volunteered with the organization First Star, which works with children who are in foster care. I worked at their Greater Washington Academy, which aims to get high school aged foster kids in the DMV area thinking about college and helps prepare them for life outside of the foster system. I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with these kids and watch them grow over the course of several years. Johns Hopkins’ focus on community service, especially the Presidential Day of Service, definitely increased my interest in the university. I care deeply about the communities I’m a part of, and I want a school that cares as well.
