General Ross from the government said, “For the past four years you have operated with unlimited power … and no supervision. That's an arrangement the governments of the world can no longer tolerate. But I think we have a solution; The Sokovia accords. Approved by 117 countries...it states that the Avengers shall no longer be a private organization. Instead they’ll operate under the supervision of a United Nations panel...only when and if that panel deems it necessary.” Captain America, “The Avengers were formed to make the world a safer place. I feel we’ve done that.” General Ross,“Tell me Captain, do you know where Banner and Thor are right now? If I misplaced a couple of 30 megaton nukes … you can bet there'd be consequences. Compromise. Reassurance. That's how the world works. Believe me this is the middle ground.” War machine says, “So there are contingencies.” General Ross, “Three days from now the UN meets in Vienna to ratify the accords. Talk it over.” Black widow, “And if we come to a decision you don't like?” General Ross, “Then you
In Pierce Brown's "Red Rising" trilogy, two important archetypes stand out: the threshold guardian and the ruler. The threshold guardian is a character who serves as an obstacle that the protagonist must overcome to achieve their goal, and the ruler is a character who has power and control over others. These two archetypes play an important role in showing how abusive corruption deprives worthy men and women of equal opportunities. The threshold guardian archetype is exemplified in the Gold society of "Red Rising," where the Golds are the ruling class and hold all the power.
An ever increasing fear that pushes our nation into a corner clouded by the gigantic shadow cast by ongoing propaganda. Propaganda that is shown across the nation, in the home, and questionably imbedded in our bloodlines. This malicious enterprise has given corporations profitable reason to use their resources to support the military effort in expanding and taking over in other countries for countless years. The war machine as Hedges describes it has never been about safety, liberty, or even democracy, but instead a figurehead of an evolving institution in the business of security and surveillance, holding immense defense contracts and being backed by economic and political powers internally. Through statistics and documented expenditures, Hedges shows the monumental expenses that the military drain from the federal budget, on average, that is paid for mostly out of the taxpayers’ pockets.
Red Rising, the debut novel by Pierce Brown, is a science fiction story set in a future where society is divided into a strict color-coded caste system. The protagonist, Darrow, is a member of the lowest caste, the Reds, who are forced to work as miners on the planet Mars. The novel is filled with archetypes that are central to the plot and characters. In particular, the call to adventure, tragic lover, and mentor archetypes illustrate how fear can blind people when facing hard decisions, causing them to act out of character and break the rules.
Mental Battles at Sea 227. The number of days Pi survived at sea with little food, little water and, even a Bengal Tiger..or so he thought. Life of Pi, written by Yann Martel, describes the journey of a young boy named Piscine Patel, also known as Pi, whose father owns a zoo in India. When his family decides to sell the zoo and move to Canada, the freighter they travel in breaks down and sinks. Luckily, Pi gets on a life boat just in time but weirdly enough, with four zoo animals who were also in the freighter.
Although anti-war elements often argue that war could be avoided if only the prospective protagonist would sit down and talk things over, it is important to understand how a sit down works to be successful. Communication between two conflicting parties is a tough process whether it is between two people, two businesses or two or more countries. There is no way to know for sure if sitting down and talking things over could have prevented the war of 1812, it may have helped, but it would have just delayed the inevitable. A disagreement that leads to conflict is no different whether it is between two people or two countries. The only difference is the scale of the people affected.
Dr. Abraham Erskine asked Rogers to join an experiment to make the ultimate soldier to defeat the Germans. In Captain America: The First Avenger, Rogers goes through the different stages of a hero's journey, which are: the birth/beginning, the call to adventure,
The ability to trust others is a good quality to have, but too much trust can lead to betrayal which then can cause a change in someone. The dystopian novel Unwind by Neal Shusterman is about kids ages 13-18 trying to survive in a disloyal world from getting killed and stripped for body parts. In the novel The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, there is an alien invasion where all the aliens manipulate all the human’s fears and weaknesses to eventually kill them off. Both authors of the stories use character archetypes and symbolism to indicate the theme that people who have been betrayed in the past, tend to change as a person whether the change is good or bad.
Although they do tend to get into some government involvement s as they send a request to the government to immediately use maximum manpower to and support equipment to secure our nation from terrorist, drug smugglers , and illegals. Make a decision and work toward win-win deals (page 41).
Death is Usually considered a bad thing to be lurking around your daily life but in these instances it is just another common thing that occurs daily. In Legend by Marie Lu, a girl is stealing and selling of stuff to try to earn enough money to buy the cure for the disease that her brother has. The Fog of War: Breakdown Using Theories of International Relations Many influential leaders or people in positions of power make weighted decisions which could have a lasting impact on the world around them. When it comes to Robert McNamara, former Secretary of Defense to Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson during a 7-year term, the theory of Realism can explain his decision-making greatly, while Constructivism manages to explain a few decisions but to great and important effect. A few lessons from the documentary The Fog of War highlight his decision-making during a torrid time at the White House. One lesson in The Fog of War is entitled “Empathize with your enemy” (The Fog of War), in which he describes the need to view a
This fact undoubtedly is a result of the uncertainty which still remains between states regardless of the numerous progressive moves in a liberal direction for the international community such as the establishment of the United Nations (UN) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). In spite of this liberal progression the traditional realist approach still and perhaps will for the foreseeable future remain at the crux of military security regardless of whatever shortcomings. An easy explanation for this is that the very concept of military security is based on realist thought, realist vision, the very instinct to defend, protect and attack if necessary are the fundamentals of military security but also of realism. The world continues to be a dangerous and ruthless place as any traditional realist would agree. The inherent dark side of humanity remains giving optimum reason as to why the strengths of the traditional realist approach to military security outweigh the weaknesses.
In Captain America: The First Avenger, the first two romantic phases were evident as they are in Spider-Man, but they are not as clear or specific. Phase 1 is shown when Steve Rogers is recruited by Dr. Erskine for project rebirth and gets injected with the super serum. Just like Peter Parker, Rogers is transformed from his weak and scrawny body into a super solider with the maximum human strength potential. His life as weak Steve Rogers ends, and his life as a Captain America. The second phase is evident because Rogers is unaware of what is to come once he enters the war.
Conflict resolution as a field of study as indicated has formed hypothetical bits of knowledge into the nature and source of conflict and how conflicts can be resolved through peaceful systems to effectuate a dependable settlement. Morton Deutsch, was the first to form and understanding into the helpful results of collaboration as a scholastic enquiry. In his view, various variables like the way of the debate and the objectives every group in a conflict goes for are crucial in deciding the sort of introduction a group would convey to the negotiation table in its endeavor to unravel the conflict (Morton Deucth, 1985, p.24). To him, two essential orientations do exist. These are competitive and cooperative.
Essentially, the council generates Peacekeeping Operation or applies a sanction to member states. In addition, the P5 of the UNSC have the veto power which allows them to veto against any resolutions within the UN. However, there have been far too many concerns over the skeptical roles of the UNSC in the 21st century. The P5 seem to use their powers mostly for pursuing their own interest. Furthermore, the actions initiated by the council are mostly inefficient in response to international issues.
