Arthur is an extraordinarily ordinary bipedal British bloke. Besides breathing and achieving other astonishingly average human feats, his prime concern is the bulldozer parked a few metres from his residence—little does he know about the disarrayed state his life is about to take on. While he is determined to stay in his house to prevent its demolition, his friend Ford Prefect convinces him to take a break and go to the pub. Over a pint, he tells Arthur about his extraterrestrial heritage. Unsettling as it may be to learn that your friend is an alien, Ford further disturbs Arthur’s interpretation of reality by informing him of the Earth’s impending destruction—much like his home, his planet is about to be torn down by to make place for a road. …show more content…
Since Arthur now officially speaks a dead language, a small Babel Fish takes residence in his ear to translate the universe’s many dialects; the ever-expanding cosmos does know its conveniences. The alien workforce is not very keen on hitchhikers, so they throw Arthur and Ford into the cold depths of space. Meanwhile, Zaphod Beeblebrox—who happens to both Ford’s semi-half cousin and the figurehead galactic president—steals the ‘Heart of Gold’, a spaceship fit with an improbability drive, which has the ability to make literally anything happen. Together with his human companion Trillian, he stumbles upon Arthur and Ford floating in the vast depths of the cosmos while looking for the mythical planet ‘Magrathea’’. The inhabitants of this planet used to make planets for the galactic one-percent consisting of the richest among the rich. But one day, the planet suddenly

Caylee was found in a trash bag, with duct tape wrapped around her head to cut off air supply. There are many key pieces of evidence in the case that points toward Casey being guilty of the crime. I truly believe Casey killed Caylee, here are a few reasons why.
“According to experts, mothers who murder their children aren’t as rare as we’d want to think. Some estimate that it happens a few times a day in this country and at least 1000 times in a year!” Casey Anthony, mother of two year old Caylee Anthony, attended the courtroom for about two and a half months for being accused of murdering her daughter. This demonstrates Alex’s commitment to his heart’s wants regardless of the logic against it, and once his heart made the decision to go to Alaska he would have to follow it. “Shambleau” is a well written story about a man who gets himself into a situation he would have never imagined; the character that Moore uses make the story more interesting. All three of Moore’s characters play an important role in making the story as action packed as it is. Moore uses a man who believes he is the hero, an “innocent” victim, and the hero’s friend to make the story a hard to put down read. “Shambleau” take place on Mars, and is being told to happen in the future. It tells the story of a man named Northwest Smith and his unique experience when he meets a creature called Shambleau.

Although the story revolves around a technically and scientifically-based plot, Crichton does a great job making the story understandable to all audiences. Because of this, his writing style has proven to be timeless, attracting readers of all ages and
“Hop in the car,” my dad said. His outstretched arms guiding my eyes to the open doors. Our 2009 Honda Odyssey was a beige colored behemoth. Comically overstuffed with passengers and cargo, the sporadic rumbling of the V6 engine was disconcerting as we hit the road. “Will we even reach Meredith at all,” I wonder.

I wrote about Misty Copeland, a professional dancer who broke many stereotypical molds in the ballet world. I described how Misty Copeland experienced hardships that inspired her to accomplish feats that make her the hero that she is today. This is an example of a cause-and-effect essay. I decided to write about this topic because I have always loved Misty Copeland’s story, and I felt that it fit the assignment perfectly. Originally, I made some grammatical mistakes and left out some details, but I was able to revise them.
While walking down the sidewalk on a beautiful, sunny day, you walk in front of your favorite bakery which has it’s doors propped open and the gorgeous smells are trolling out of the sweet smelling bakery. You take a deep breathe in and all of a sudden are stopped mid-breathe by the scent of sour skittles. You look to your left and see a guy vaping, and the vapor coming from his device is eliminating the delicious scent of the bakery. Over time, science fiction has changed significantly following the trends of a certain era. When you read a literary piece made in the 19th century, don’t expect it to be quite similar to the ones made a few months ago. Even though there are many differences, there are also some similar concepts and ideas, which shows how time differences influences a writer’s style. The two texts that will be used in this essay are ‘The Machine Stops’ by E.M. Foster, and ‘Transcendence’, a 2014 movie. This essay will explain the theme, plot, and purpose of these two stories.
Addiction is the reliance on a routine. There are many addictive stages. Addiction, as it comes along, becomes a way of life. The persistent use of the substance causes to the user serious physical or psychological problems and dysfunctions in major areas of his or her life. The drug user continues to use substances and the compulsive behavior despite the harmful consequences, and tries to systematically avoid responsibility and reality, while he or she tends to isolate himself/herself from others because of guilt and pain (Angres, & Bettinardi-Angres, 2008).
