The website " The Holocaust; Facts and Figures" says how approximately 6 million Jews were killed during the holocaust and about 1.1 million Jews were Killed too. Hitler was the leader of the Germans. Hitler would tell the Germans to kill the Jews, they attacked Jews because the Nazis considered them a race, also because they thought Jews were the cause of losing world war I. The Nazis also wanted some land so they thought that by getting rid of the Jews they would be able to keep their land. This war began in 1939 in Europe. There is evidence of this happening, many people have written about the holocaust. Night is an autobiography by Elie Wiesel, a holocaust survivor. In the book Night, Elie experiences cruelty, but he also experiences kindness. On page 53, Wiesel says " he threw himself on me like a wild beast, beating me in the chest, on my head, throwing me to the ground and picking me up again and crushing me with even more violent blow until I was covered in blood (Wiesel 53). Elie experiences cruelty when Idek started beating him up just because Elie crossed his path. He beat up Elie because he was venting his fury and Elie was crossing his way. After he beat up Elie, he sent him back to work as if he didn’t just beat him to death. On the other hand, Elie also experiences kindness. On page 53, Wiesel says " I felt a cool hand wiping the blood from my forehead. I was the French girl. She was smiling her mournful smile as she slipped me a crust of bread" (Wiesel 53). Elie Experiences kindness when the girl comforts him after getting beaten by Idek. The girl risked her life for him. She helped him after getting beaten by Idek, she cleaned him up and fed him.
