In the film “Chicken Run”, the directors Park and Lord create impact in the pie machine scene by using a variety of cinematography techniques. Throughout the beginning, middle and end it moves from tension through to panic and eventually joy. At the beginning of the scene, the director uses cinematography techniques to create tension. The techniques the directors use are lighting, sound and camera angles. For example, the dramatic music and a high camera angle are combined as you look down on the machine, this is to make Ginger and Rocky look small and insignificant compared to the huge machinery. For example, when Ginger and Rocky get trapped inside the pie oven, the camera technique used was panning, it viewed the flames blazing away which showed a large amount of fear in Ginger’s eyes. Combined with this technique was foley effects, this was to show how fierce and terrifying the flames were surrounding them, this was also merged with under lighting that was shown as the bright red oven floor underneath Ginger and Rocky.
