In 1998, Timothy Lee Hurst was tried for first-degree murder and robbery. It was said that Hurst stabbed and slashed Cynthia Harrison at least sixty times, on top of extremely deep cuts penetrating down to her bones. While the murder was being committed, Hurst robbed the Popeye’s location it was being committed in, which happened to be the location where he worked. Hurst ended up being convicted of first-degree murder, but the case turned into a penalty phase trial to figure out which sentence would best suit Hurst’s crime. After the penalty phase, the jury came back with an eleven to one vote and suggested Hurst be put to a death sentence.

On the morning of August 4, 1892, Andrew Borden and Abby Borden were murder on their Fall River Home during daylight. At 9.30 am in morning Abby Borden was killed by 19 hits, with an ax to shoulder and to the head (Lizzie Borden). As follow, Andrew Borden is also murder on a couch with 11 hits with an ax to the head at 11 am. The only suspect at the time of the murder was the daughter of Andrew Borden himself, Lizzie Borden who had claimed that she had found her father lying dead on a couch in the sitting room. But everyone know there is more to the story than Lizzie Borden suspicious testimony, but no one knows what happened on that tragic morning of Fall River Massachusetts and whether or not Lizzie Borden was the murder.

Jaime Vega Taylor D.C. U.S History 5 December 2017 The Killer Angels "The Killer Angels" is a historical novel written by Michael Shaara in 1974. The novel is about the four days of the Battle of Gettysburg which is viewed from various perspectives that took place during the American Civil War. The story takes place between June 30, 1963 when both the Union and the Confederacy soldiers prepare for battle around the town of Gettysburg and the 1st to 3rd of July 1973 when the battle takes place.

The book The Killer Angles is opened up with us viewing the Union Army through the eyes of a confederate spy that tells us everything you need to know about the armies and how each army was fairing at the time of Gettysburg as it gives you a rich back ground of the armies. When their all together they will outnumber you General (Shaara pg8). This book also allows you to peer inside the Southerns ' Great Generals minds and really get a feel of their character and what it was like to fight a war when you stand no real chance of winning. What was the movie about? The movie 42 is about Jackie Robinson, the first professional african american baseball player. Jackie Robinson gets drafted to the Brooklyn Dodgers and plays for them during the 1947 season. Jackie Robinson defines all odds by not only being the first professional african american to play baseball but also by being one of the best players of the game.

My favorite movie of all times would have to be Orson Welles’s 1941 film Citizen Kane. This film is such a great movie that event though it is over 70 years old it is still being played not only in theaters but is also used in cinema classes. This movie had changed how movie makers made movies and has inspired so many big movies even to this day. It has been nominated for Academy Awards in nine categories and had won an Academy Award for Best Writing. Even if you might not have seen the movies itself you most likely seen some of its best-known scenes in other shows like The Simpson, Family Guy and many other shows and movies.

The Film Citizen Kane was a groundbreaking film in the 1940’s, the way Orson Wells depicts his film with different lighting, cinematography, choice of camera shots and mise-en-scene throughout this movie truly showed the masterpiece that this film is. In the Film Citizen Kane, it was the first movie that went against true Hollywood cinema by introducing flashbacks throughout the movie to show us how Charles Foster Kane changes throughout the movie. Throughout this movie the audience can see how Charles Foster Kane undergoes a variety of physical and emotional changes from when he was just a young boy all the way until his unfortunate death. Power, that’s all that Kane wanted in the start of the film. In the beginning of the film Kane gets ownership of the struggling New York Daily Inquirer, Kane suggests that he wanted to use journalism to apply to the public and protect the interest of ordinary people.

The opening scenes of “Citizen Kane” are quite different from what follows during the rest of the film. Fading in and out of different landscapes instilled mystery. This mysterious vibe was carried on during Charles Foster Kane’s death through the use of shadows, quiet music, and close up shots. Isolated in his vast empire of a home, Kane uttered only one word before he passed: “rosebud.”

Citizen Kane challenged the traditional narrative and technical elements of classic Hollywood cinema mainly in the area of sound. Orson Welles was ahead of his time when he created his works of manipulating sound to transfer meaning in the film Citizen Kane. Welles used concealed hanging microphones to obtain different levels of sound throughout the film. The manner, in which the story was told, from Kane’s death flashbacked to his life of success and ultimate failure, was also a new style of storytelling for films. Welles also used symbolism with his last mumbling word “Rosebud.”

There are many things that make “Citizen Kane” considered as possibly one of the greatest films every made; to the eyes of the passive audience this film may not seem the most amazing, most people being accustomed to the classical Hollywood style, but to the audience with an eye for the complex, “Citizen Kane” breaks the traditional Hollywood mold and forges its own path for the better. Exposition is one of the most key features of a film, it’s meant introduce important characters and give the audience relevant details and and dutifully suppress knowledge in turn. “Citizen Kane” does not follow this Classic Hollywood style exposition, instead going above and beyond to open the film with revealing as little information as possible and confuse/intrigue

Citizen Kane by Orson Welles is a cinematic classic, released in 1941. Citizen Kane challenged traditional narrative and technical elements of classic Hollywood cinema. Kane was narrated by several people that include their take on Kane’s life. The story unfolds by many flashbacks and is told by different perspectives over the years through different narrations. Charles Foster Kane was a millionaire, head of newspapers and died saying “rosebud”.

Citizen Kane is definitely a complex movie with all of the contextuality that is beyond preliminary comprehension. Mulvey’s article expressed how important it was to go back and look for hints and hidden meanings throughout the mise-en-scène of the movie. These multiple layers of narrative serve a psychologic purpose to retain the viewer in the diegetic world of the film while feeding continuously an enormous amount of information. One of the interesting things the article mentioned was how the camera’s movement which “functions both literally and figuratively” (101).

On October 30,1938, the night before Halloween, Orson Welles brought shock to people all over the country through a broadcast. He talked about fake aliens in New Mills, New Jersey. He did this because he wanted more people to listen to his broadcasts. His broadcast was meant to seem realistic, and many people did not know it was fake. Orson Welles recklessly endangered people through his broadcast by causing chaos across the country.
