Compare And Contrast Federalist And Anti Federalists

Federalists and Anti- Federalists had different view points on how they wanted to run their governments. Federalists wanted a strong central government. They wanted the Constitution to be ratified right away, with no changes. Federalists wanted the powers of state to be given central government. They wanted the government to be divided into three branches.

The Federalists and Anti-Federalists possessed many opposing views. From the establishment of the Constitution, the two parties were created defining the first issue between the two. Those who favored the Constitution were known as the Federalists and those who opposed it were labeled as the Antifederalists. Another main issue was the position on the Articles of Confederation. The Federalist party felt strongly that they should be abandoned.

Federalist vs. Anti-Federalist on Taxation Although the Articles of Confederation had its flaws, not everyone agreed with the Constitution. Under the Articles, the federal government had no taxing authority. This posed a major problem. After the War for Independence, the new country had various forms of debt.

Before I state my opinion, I must lay out the two opposing sides between the federalists and the anti Federalists. To put it simply, federalists were people who supported the ratification of the constitution. 
On the other side of the spectrum the anti-Federalists were people who opposed the ratification of the constitution. If I was living in the in the 1780’s I probably would have voted and supported the ratification of the constitution. I am the type of person that wants a strong and unified central government.

Why did the federalists and the republicans became to be? Why were they so different? This questions and so many more are the questions bombard a lot of people who live in the U.S. In this essay, we will be talking about each political party and the reason why each wanted to create their very own political party. First of all, the federalists ideas and in which areas they concentrated on.

At the Constitutional Convention in 1787-1788, there were two fundamental ideological camps attempting to push their plan for the new government. They were the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists. While the Federalists dominated the government through the 1790s, they rapidly declined after 1800. Federalist party are people who strongly agree to the thought of the constitution and they argued to immediate ratification of the constitution. James Madison along with Alexander Hamilton favored the constitution and argued their case against the Anti Federalist which were people who wanted to keep a monarchy country. I stand strongly on the side of the Federalists. A strong central government has been exceptionally beneficial to our country. The Anti-Federalists wanted to keep a monarchy government when the Federalists wanted to see a change in our country.

The Federalists created the Constitution we all know today, then called the Federalist Papers, in 1788 to oppose the current Articles of Confederation. James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay created The Federalist in New York to publish and introduce the idea of a more centralized government(Federalists, n.d.). Countering the Articles of Confederation and challenging the current government system infuriated the Antifederalists. It infuriated them so much that many of them came together to publish many speeches against adopting the ratification of the Constitution, known as the Anti-Federalist papers. The Anti-Federalist papers were disclosed and private, for everyone involved could get in serious trouble, but Robert Yates, George Clinton, Samuel Bryan, and Richard Henry Lee took the task into their own hands.

Both federalists presidents, George Washington and John Adams demonstrated a great extent of promoting Unity of the Nation and the authority of the federal government throughout the time period of 1789-1798 by enforcing new laws, having control of the miltras. After the American Revolution in 1783, although the United States of America was formed, many states remained divided and believing they are better than one another. Thus lead to the form of the Constitution and the formation of the Federal government. This frighten many citizens like Thomas Jefferson, an Anti Federalists, because the idea of central government might turn their way of government back to a monarchy.

As others are the federalist, I’d be an anti-federalism. According to fact that they didn’t hate to support federalism. All they wanted to make more improvement. They worked so that the states would have more power. They didn’t want any secrets.

Federalists and Anti-Federalists had opposing views in the Constitution because of their differences; but they also had many similarities that ended up leading to the ratification of the Constitution. Anti-Federalists and Federalist had many similarities. Both were supportive of this new country and knew that they needed a government. They both wanted the congress to have power to create war and to create treaties.
