Though technological advancement is what we have structured around, we are the most well-educated incline generation, not only through collegiate institutions but through the outreach in our and other communities. With global issues arise, our legislation and agendas should reflect the global minds use to solve them on Capitol Hill. With the rise of technology and political influence, millennials are the true progressive leader who will move our world of legislation and democracy forward. Diversity is defined as the state of showing great variety. We are more engaged in international affairs through our technology and networking from the various social media platform. Not only are we ethnically diverse, we explore not deplore the intersectionality including the various political affiliations that the entire general population possess. These young servant leaders can integrate their backgrounds with their ideas to help a community in need despite their racial, ethical, and religious identity. However, unlike most generation x, being supportive and advocating for your community, my black community, means lifting other minority communities along the way. In the 2013 Time article "The New Greatest Generation," Joel Stein claims that "millennials' perceived entitlement isn't a result of overprotection but an adaptation to a world of abundance"(31). Stein's organizational style appeals to readers because he arranges the article in a way that lures the reader's attention in the beginning, so he can later propose a new outlook. Self-preservation is the protection of oneself from harm or death, a basic instinct that humans have. The millennial generation refers to individuals born between 1980 and 2000. Rob Fournier in his essay “The Outsiders: How Can Millennials Change Washington If They Hate It?”,argues that the only way Millennials will engage in Washington is if they change it. David and Jack Cahn in their introductory chapter to When Millennials Rule offers a solution to this issue by asserting that young people will use their votes to radically change Washington and win the war against the Washington elite.

Well, Kathryn Tyler, a Generation X freelance writer with a background in human resources and training, wrote “The Tethered Generation,” which was published on May 2007 in HR Magazine, an article that suggest that human resources professionals should learn how to manage, ahead of time, incoming millennials, us, in the workforce. Diversity is showing variety, or being different. It is clear that this could easily lead to the downfall of the United States we know today. When two people have a disagreement, in a way, it’s diversity. But if there is too much diversity, people could develop completely different ideas, which could lead to arguments, and then to separations.
Diversity in relation to people basically means we are all different. This could include our age, gender, where we live, our religious beliefs to how we dress. All these factors make us all individual and unique. Equality means we are all entitled to be treated fairly. We should all be given the same rights.
Diversity plays a big role in my community in, St. Cabrini Nursing Home. As social workers we work in different levels such as micro, mezzo, and macro and within those levels our clients are very diverse in many different ways. Diversity comes in many different forms such as age, race, color, religion, immigration status, culture, disability ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Those are just some or the many that define diversity. Diversity impacts my community in the nursing home because in this nursing home the majority of the residents are all Caucasians and the majority of the staff members are African Americans.

Diversity can be defined as the variety of beliefs, interests, and experiences within groups of people. Redlands’ excellent ethnic diversity reveals statistics with less than half of white majority and more than half of minority students. As a Hispanic female, the word minority has traveled with me constantly. The fact that The University of Redlands encourages all minorities as well as the majority to pursue a future career captivates my attention. Truly, diversity has inspired me of to collaborate and compete with many different cultures and morals.
Diversity means understanding that every individual is unique and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. Understanding that diversity includes not only ways of being but also ways of knowing. For example, at work, I have to interact with co-workers of different genders, age groups, faiths and so on.
As the baby boomers continue to become older, millennials take their place. As life continues, involvement will steadily decrease. One example of this intercohort change is political participation.
A millennial is the title of anyone who is born after 1984. The author, Simon Sinek, is not a millennial, but does express his opinion in his informal lecture, “Millennials in the Workplace.” Sinek argues that all of the millennial’s issues stem from bad parenting, technology, impatience, and the environment and their long lasting effect the workplace. The only way to resolve the problem is to have corporate environments take responsibility and train the new employees to their standards. It is reasonable to agree with a majority of Sinek’s argument, but a corporation does not need to overcompensate; it is best to give millennials a push in the right direction and let them experience the world with the proper tools and skills necessary.
Their values and opinions have begun to affect the workplace, politics and various industries. Studies have shown that millennials prefer to do meaningful work rather than having a mundane that provides no fulfillment. Millennials have changed the workplace with their desire to be hands on in any task possible. An article from Forbes stated “Millennials are not wallflowers. They want to be part of the action.
Implementing training programs where all generations can learn about each other’s differences can help employees understand how and why each generation works. Workshops in which multigenerational workforces can share work experience and mentor each other can assist in creating a sense of community and a supportive environment where employees can be open and share their ideas an collaborate with each other in order to better their organization. Millennials are perceived as being disloyal and quick to search for new employment when they unhappy in their work environments, but due to starting their careers during times of recession, Millennials try to maintain their roles in the workplace to remain financially stable. The main reason for turnover among Millennials is a result of exclusion, slow growth within the workplace, and limited development opportunities. Finding gratification and meaning to their work is important to Millennials so that they can excel and be productive in the workplace that is supportive of their work.
Today it seems you can’t turn on the TV or the radio without hearing about the dyer state of the new American youth. Time magazine in 2012 called us the “Generation of Me”. The article went on to say we were the most self absorbed, narcissistic and uncaring generation in American history, but the article also elaborated that our generation would be the one that saved the world. The millennials are a massive generation filled not only with narcissism, but with good intentions and a strong sense of citizenship. When you match our generation’s tendency to be hopeful with our availability and utilization of technology, you have a perfect storm for a new and better era of social justice and political equality not just in America but globally.
