This essay will be discussing whether or not the character Equality 7-2521’s assessment of his sins towards throughout of the book he’s from, Anthem. His assessment (that he doesn’t care about his sin, as it was decided a sin by a government he sees as immoral and corrupt) is in my opinion, correct. This thought stems mainly from the fact he documented his thoughts throughout the book, and the documents could potentially inspire other people to do the same thing he did, which Equality would probably like.
At the beginning of Anthem, Equality feels ashamed with many actions of his, specifically calling many of them evil, sinful, or a “transgression”. ( ”It is a sin to write this. It is a sin to think words no others think and to put them down

Ever have the Teachers and the Leaders pointed to us and frowned and said: "There is evil in your bones, Equality 7-2521, for your body has grown beyond the bodies of your brothers." (1.5) ), et cetera. This shame is mainly because of different things that government workers had told him. The government in Anthem strongly believes you need to be working for the good of all of society constantly.(And if you are not needed by your brother men, there is no reason for you to burden the earth with your bodies. The similarities are incredibly obvious (It’s almost as though she wrote it that way on purpose, am I right?), from the use of familial terms (which were used constantly in communist propaganda), to the uncompromising/tough language government material uses (this was also used a lot in communist propaganda). I feel like saying Ayn Rand wrote it that way based on her own negative experiences in Russia is a bit of an understatement honestly, because the parallels are so clear. Besides that, though, that’s it,

The book Anthem by Ayn Rand is a very interesting book. At first it is confusing to the reader because of the use of the words we and us instead of I. The main character, Equality 7-2521 introduces himself in the plural form. The reader takes a while to figure this out. The era that Equality is in, is after the Great Rebirth.
To begin with, Anthem takes place in a collectivist society in which people are not allowed to think for themselves and can’t do so anything with it being a group effort. They can only be motivated by the idea of helping their brothers. To not do so or want to do so can and will be met by a severe punishment or death some cases. Here is the main character (Equality) has built an invention that can help his brother but that is not his primary motivation. Which is frowned upon by the council even when it in the good of civilization.
In the dystopian novel “Anthem” by Ayn Rand, the author uses the Council as an example of those who possess complete knowledge. They lead the community with their wisdom and are always right in their conviction, which is how they manipulate the City. The character Equality 7-2521 is introduced as one who believes that despite the requirements of the Council to obey, he cannot compromise the morals that are significant to him, so he wrote, which he believes “is a sin to write this. It is a sin to think words no others think and to put them down upon a paper no others will see. It is base and evil.”(Rand
“It is a sin to write this,” begins Anthem, and the digression of the society around him slowly falls. The argument asks if I reason about the Equality’s sins being evil or marvelous. The outtake of his decision decides his fate on the community around him, lifeless slaves being controlled by the government. So, I believe his sins are for the greater good. It shows that he is not a enslaved monkey in a science lab, but the arrogant monkey who refuses to do the tests.

He had been searching for a word that could suffice for that meaning, but never found it until he ran away from the society to discovery it. The society in Anthem was morally wrong for a handful of reasons.
Aristotle's assertions that the worst form of inequality Is to make unequal things equal is correct because forcing people to be the same in all ways can lead to restricting people to accomplish their full potential, People are also able to combine their unique talents for the betterment of all and are not restricted by everyone being the same limiting their abilities. To begin, the ability of people to be different allows them to use their minds in different ways and have the freedom to create and discover new things. In Ayn Rand's book Anthem, the protagonist of the book Equality 7-2521 lives in a world of equality where no one is allowed to be alone or explore their brains. Equality is something people want till people actually have it. Equality often limits a person’s abilities and disables to do something for themselves or inspire themselves. Equality's, the main character in the book Anthem, the primary motivation is proving that he is smart enough to become a scholar. Equality has a right to be motivated in this way since he believes that he can help the society so he is giving into the collectivism. I think that if everyone was motivated in this way, there would be a more progressive society where people sought to improve themselves and society at the same time.
Ayn Rand’s Anthem starts by Equality 7-2521 saying “It is a sin to write this.” Throughout the story, Equality’s views and mindset changes, he realizes that he is different from his brothers and its ok to be different. “We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever” (Rand 19). How can an individual be a hero in a collectivist society? In The Anthem, a novella by Ayn Rand, the protagonist, Equality 7-2521 is portrayed as an archetypal epic hero. Equality 7-2521 exhibits the characteristics of an epic hero because he is capable of great deeds, he has a nemesis, and he experiences an event that leads to a quest.
