If Donald Trump had his way “People who burn the flag should have their citizenship revoked or spend a year in jail.” The flag of the United States of America represents freedom. Burning the flag is a sign of disrespect to the country and to the people who served and died trying to protect it. Just because people have a right of free speech don't not mean they have the right to burn the United States Flag.
Burning the American flag is disrespectful to some of those who represent our country such as Donald Trump and our military. He thinks that it is wrong and disrespectful to do such a thing to the flag and that it should lead to some sort of punishment such as prison time, a fine, or even a loss of citizenship. It is an absolute disgrace to go and tread on what others have given up many things for, such as their lives or leave their families and go across the world just to protect us. The flag is what represents us as a nation and should be treated better than what it has been treated. It represents the United States and everyone in it. It represents the people who gave their lives to protect it, and represents that all Americans are free because of those people. People have tried to protect the flag but it is legal to burn the flag because of the first amendment and it has been since Texas V.S Johnson case in 1989. Even if it is wrong to disobey the amendments it shouldn’t be used to get the attention of others to prove a point. People say that they can do this just because it a piece of fabric and they would do the same with any other piece if needed. I wouldn’t burn the flag unless it was a life or death situation that had to have me burn it to survive just because I have respect for where I was born and raised in the
