The NFL changed the sporting economy as well as the general entertainment industry in a way that cannot be understated. The company generates over a billion dollars annually, not exclusively from ticket sales but due to a system of business methods. Because each event can cost over 200 million dollars, it is essential for the company to turn a profit (Ali, 2019). All these factors affect society from an economic standpoint.

Part I: The history behind the great American sport, football, is a very important subject to me as I have played the game since I was eight. As I continued playing while getting older, leagues got more competitive and injury seemed to be more prone to some than most. I can’t even recall the amount of times the game has been stopped due to someone getting the wind knocked out of them, head-to-head collisions, sometimes even broken bones. The slide about rules evolution within the College Football realm resonated with me due to the fact that during this time football was being played, people were dying from injuries and the numbers of deaths were only rising. In 1905, eighteen players died and in 1908, that number increased to thirty-three.
Like many sports at any time, football had a couple of really great teams and players with many other things going on. Different elements of professional football in the 1960s were great players, the first super bowl, and many great teams. The American Football League (AFL) creation greatly helped professional football in the 1960s and shaped what professional football looks like today. The AFL was created in order to compete with the already existing National Football League (NFL).
Kickoffs already received a few rules changes the last five offseasons. Five years ago the ball placement for kickoffs was changed from the twenty-five yard line to the thirty-five yard line. This increased the number of touchbacks and because of that, reduced the amount kickoff returns. Even more recently changed was the place of the ball after a touchback. After decades of touchbacks being placed at the twenty the NFL decided to change the spot of the ball to the twenty-five.

Schroth argued that high school football should be abolished because it had contributed more harmful effects than benefits to football players.
