Did Percy Jackson actually become diagnosed with ADHD? From things that Percy does, it is easy to tell he might have ADHD. Some characteristics of ADHD are intention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. In The Lighting Thief the are a lot of examples saying that the child might have ADHD. He tries to learn new things but it is difficult to him, he has a bad attitude, and he can not keep control of his anger to other people. Percy Jackson has ADHD. One reason that Percy has ADHD is because he tries and wants to learn things, but it is really hard for him. In “The Lightning Thief” he tries to learn on his field trip, but people distract him and won’t let him learn. Nancy Bobofit is Percy’s rival from Yancy academy and she won’t leave him alone
ADHD is very common and the symptoms our patient, Kevin, is experiencing are in line with the symptoms used to diagnose it. More specifically, Kevin’s symptoms are matching the combined classification of ADHD. As a general diagnosis, ADHD is a very common disorder, and can be classified into three types- Inattentive, Hyperactive-Impulsive, and Combined. Inattentive ADHD is the type where the patient is easily distracted, a common stereotype (albeit true) of ADHD patients. This type is generally associated with lack of attention to detail, careless mistakes, failure to keep on task (being easily distracted), and being forgetful.
Such as his mother. He is intelligent because he makes plans throughout the story to get to the right places. For example, Percy makes plans, like the buses they will take, to get them where they need to be. And since he knows all the possible routes, he also assists Grover and Annabeth along the way. For example, Toward the end of the story Percy, “told Annabeth and Grover how to get back to Half-Blood Hill and let Chiron know what had happened.”
Percy is very strong emotionally and he always makes sure that his friends and family are safe. When Grover was captured and sent to Polyphemus, Percy knew that he had to go and save him as well as retrieve the golden fleece so he could save everyone at camp. Percy cares about his friends and he will be willing to do the right thing and save them even if it means he gets in trouble. Percy Jackson wasn't

Have you ever wondered how it would feel to be the son/daughter of a Greek god? Well that’s exactly what happened to Percy Jackson, an average 12 year old boy with ADHD. Percy Jackson and his mom Sallie Jackson had quite a hard life where they lived in Manhattan, New York City, New York. Percy had been moving from school to school due to expulsion and his severe dyslexia which of course kept him from reading properly. During a school trip to a Greek museum, Percy finds himself being taken away by a teacher named Mrs. Dodds to be punished but he gets a not so pleasant surprise but another teacher comes and gives him a pen which can turn into a sword.
Percy Jackson, the main character in The Lightning Thief ,is following the path of the hero in “Hero’s journey” On Percy’s life a teacher has become his mentor. In the Lightning Thief Percy says “But Mr.Brunner expected me to be as good as everybody else, despite the fact that I have dyslexia and attention deficit disorder and I had never made above a C- in my life” In this quote, percy expresses his feelings on how he is frustrated with himself and his teacher. In hero's journey a quote shows about mentors, “Heroes are almost started on their journey by a character who has mastered the laws of the outside world and come back to bestow this wisdom upon them.” That is how The Lightning Thief is compared to hero's journey.
Twelve year old Percy Jackson begins his story as a normal kid and his first day of summer after sixth grade. It was on this day Percy encounters multiple strange events which leads him to the discovery that he is a half-blood: half-human, half-god. After this discovery, Percy is taken to Camp Half-Blood, a camp for kids who are also half Greek god. Soon after arriving at camp, Percy learns he is son of Poseidon, god of the sea and brother to Hades and Zeus. He also learns that Poseidon and Zeus are in a bit of a disagreement at the moment, as Zeus is accusing Poseidon of stealing his lightning bolt.
Percy uses the medical term, dyslexia, that helps through his trials (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief), and this is totally an idea discovered only through time, while in Perseus, the God’s helped him along the way. Percy, by taking the hero archetypes, has modernized the story of
At the beginning of the story, if Percy would have realized he had powers inside, he would’ve used them. For example, Percy was faced with his first test when his pre-algebra teacher turned into a repulsive monster and attacked him. Instead of handling the problem himself, he received assistance from his disabled French teacher, Mr. Brunner. The author may have made Mr. Brunner disabled to represent the fact that people not originally perceived to be powerful, can be powerful.
However, he is blessed to have these conditions. His ADHD and ADD help him stay hyperactive in wherever he is. This book was based on Greek Mythology, and there were many wars at that time. Percy is falsely accused for stealing a lightning bolt, and wants to prove that he didn't. Percy Jackson is persevere in many ways.
Percy 's "dyslexia" is actually due to the fact that Percy 's brain is supposed to read the letters of Ancient Greek while his ADHD is more like his "battle-field reflexes" and demigod senses. Since Percy is the son of one of the big three gods (Zeus, Poseidon or Hades), his powers are a lot stronger than other demigods. As the son of Poseidon his powers mainly revolve around water. He can breath underwater and control it. Water can also heal Percy when he touches it.
Percy is also gifted with several semi-divine abilities such as the ability to manipulate water and currents, enhanced strength and senses while being near water, ability to breath underwater, mental communication with marine animals and horses(since horses were created by Poseidon) and creates small earthquakes and hurricanes. Although he seems like a character that can do almost everything, he still acts dumb sometimes and that has earned him a nickname-seaweed
