Why I want to be a member of Alpha Phi Alpha I want to become a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporation for many reasons. One of the main reasons I would like to be a member, is for the fact that I would like to belong to a brotherhood. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definitions of a brotherhood is the feelings of friendship, support, and understanding between people and a group or organization of people who have the same interests. If I were to become an Alpha Phi Alpha member, than I would rapturously embrace the feelings of support, friendship, and understanding. I feel that it is immensely important that I have a support group to be able to turn to and call my own. For me this is important because …show more content…
I understand that not all brotherhoods are especially positive and have approbatory aims. For instance being part of a gang may mean you have a support system and are part of a brotherhood, but it does not mean you are bettering yourself. One other main reason why I have a desire to become a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity is because I want to have positive impact on the community around me, whether it be Temple University’s community or the general Philadelphia area. It would bring me great joy to be a part of an Alpha Phi Alpha project that would include reaching out to the youth of Philadelphia. To me it is absolutely vital to reach out to young African Americans because young people are very impressionable. I feel that the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Incorporated genuinely care about bettering themselves and the community around them. I also feel that the members of Alpha Phi Alpha Incorporated take special care to hold themselves to a higher standard. When I see members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity on campus, they are always walking with their heads held high, attentive and ready. They are the people that you want to look up to in society. For example when Alpha Phi Alpha members do things such as, help paint a school or help out at a soup kitchen, they are being good roles models to the community. I want to be someone that other people look up to. I think that it is imperative that we as young African Americans set a good example for the younger black children growing up today. When they see us doing positive things around them, they will also want to do positive things. If I were to be accepted as a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity; I am determined to rise and accept the challenge and pleasure of holding myself to the esteemed Alpha Phi Alpha standard with great pride and
Here at Frostburg State University, I am the Executive Vice President of a major organization on campus called the Black Student Alliance. Our organizations goal is, “To represent and address the needs of the African-American student body and to culturally enrich the campus the campus as a whole through programs and lectures.” This year alone we have gained over 50 active members, and have had a turnout of more than 70 members at every event. Attending a predominantly White institution would be very difficult if there were no cultural groups on campus.
My increased desire to become an Alpha Man has been driven by my lifelong history and encounters with many of my past educators that are Alphas. I grew up in a typical underrepresented environment that had a big impact on my everyday life, from drugs, gangs, and a lack of ambition. Somehow that changed when I went to school, there where men in my schools that looked the same as the ones in my community, but the way they dressed and carried themselves was different. I later learned they were men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

“Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise, I rise, I rise.,” to become a Delta Woman. When asked to express why I should be awarded the honor & pleasure of being apart this great sorority; I must admit I was a bit overwhelmed but also very humbled. “Sisters” to most people would mean girls who share the same parents, but with sorority girls, “sisters” are the members in your sorority who share a bond between each and every one of them. I am a member of Delta Zeta sorority, I joined at the University of West Georgia but still feel the bond between me and my sorority sisters. Sisterhood means the world to the girls in sororities and it is an extraordinary thing to behold despite the fact that it may mean something else entirely to everyone else. In Sorority Life: The True Meaning of Sisterhood, they state, “Sisterhood is more than the letters which we wear on/around campus – it’s something much greater, something sacred & treasured,” and that couldn’t be any truer.
Area FFA Officer Essay There are several reasons why I want to be an Area 15 FFA officer. The principal reason that I want to be an officer is for the learning experience that it will provide. Along with learning various new objectives, being an area officer will help me develop and better some of the leadership skills that I already have. Not only would being an area officer provide personal benefit, I could use the skills and knowledge that I gain to help benefit my chapter. Being an Area 15 FFA officer will teach me several new things about the FFA and leadership skills that I don’t know already.

Becoming an Alpha is a life time goal of mine. I would like to become an Alpha because of encounters with other Alpha men, the correlation of Alpha Phi Alpha’s Nationals Projects and My lifetime goals and its Fraternal Brotherhood. “Kids have a hole in their soul in the shape of their dad. And if a father is unwilling or unable to fill that hole, it can leave a wound that is not easily healed.” Roland Warren.
I will make sure to do my part by leading by example, serving my community and school, staying true to myself, and performing in school to the best of my ability. It would be an honor to be a part of such an extraordinary program in which I can better myself and my community. At Western Michigan University, there are many micro-cultures. One particular micro-culture I want to belong to is a sorority by the name of Delta Sigma Theta, incorporated. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913, 103 years ago, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is the largest African-American Greek-lettered organization.
To the women of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated: The purpose of this letter is to inform you of my interest in becoming a member of the grad chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated. My desire to inspire young men and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. While growing up at a young age my mom worked out of my sibling lives. I did not have many positive female role models I could look to for guidance in different situations.
