Why Do You Want To Be A National Honor Society Essay

The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. School is a really important part of everyone’s life, and I feel blessed that I have had the opportunities that I have had while growing up in McComb Ohio. While attending McComb I have also been blessed with the ability to always succeed in what I do, and I currently have a 4.0 GPA. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to participate in many different activities such as junior high volleyball, school musicals, jazz band, pep band, marching band, concert band, and choir. I am very proud and grateful to say that I have been given the privilege of qualifying to join the National Honor Society. It would be, naturally, an honor to be a part of such a prestigious institution. However, to do so, one must epitomize its five tenets: character, responsibility, leadership, scholarship and service. Being an avid member in the community, I have grown to embody these traits. My experience and upholding of the fundamentals of character, leadership, scholarship, responsibility, and service will readily employ me to play a part in continuing the legacy that the National Honor Society possesses Though I am an active theatre-goer, I know that character is more than a part or role in a play.

National Honor Society is a program that teaches people how to live while exemplifying scholarship, leadership, service, and character to everyone around them. By being part of this program, I will do just those four qualities each and every opportunity possible. National Honor Society is not just a club you join throughout high school, it is an opportunity in which most people are not able to take part in. Accepting me into National Honor Society would be the best option for you as I bring all four qualities of scholarship, leadership, service, and character with me to the table.

I am deeply honored to be one of the many students to be considered for the National Honor Society. This is something I have been looking forward to ever since I left my former school 's National Honor Society. As my dreams of being inducted are slowly getting closer to becoming a reality, I truly really what qualities are to be shown by those who get the opportunity to be considered. Not only would it be an enormous honor to be accepted, it will show that hard work and effort truly pays off.

You always behave, get work done on time, respect others, show your manners, and etc. Being a leader means you set a certain criteria for everyone around you and not show them what they should be, but show them that they have the potential to be that and more. I would like to start off this essay off by saying I am very honored to be invited to join the National Honor Society. Ever since I was young I loved helping people. I did this through Girl Scouts, which I participated in five years ago. One year my Girl Scout troop went to Kennedy Hospital in December and sang Christmas carols to cheer people up. It was events like this that really shaped who I am as a person.

First off, I am humbled to be considered for membership of the National Honor Society. In my opinion on the foundation of the four pillars of NHS the FPC NHS chapter will benefit from my membership because I will bring intellect, drive, leadership, character, dedication to serve my community, honesty, respect, pride, discipline, compassion and among many other qualities a sense of humor. As an active member of my school and community I work hard to serve not just myself but those around me. I am an active volunteer throughout Flagler County as previously stated. I am a teenage volunteer at the Florida Hospital Flagler.

This definition of Leadership is best restated by my very own father “A person can demonstrate leadership skills even when not in a leadership position.” Throughout my high school years so far, I have demonstrated leadership mostly in the field of Boy Scouting in two different Troops. I started out my leadership trail in Boy Scouting by becoming a Troop Scribe who as per se the Boy Scout Handbook, 2016 Edition “The Scribe attends and keeps a log of patrol leaders’ council meetings. He records attendance and dues payments of all troop members and records advancement in troop records and on the troop advancement chart.” After that, I ascended into becoming a Patrol Leader and then acting as a Senior Patrol Leader, the highest youth leader of the troop, handling all patrols’ affairs and coordinating with the Scoutmaster for advice and consent.

I learned a lot about leadership from two summers of a school activity called Camp Ophelia. Camp Ophelia is a camp to help girls understand the importance of how anger affects our relationships in our day to day lives and friendships. We worked with team building excises to learn to work to together more in the form of arts, physical activities/ exercise and conversation focusing on how to become healthy physically, emotionally and socially in order to gain and maintain healthy relationships with others, particularly other girls. Some of the activities included Zumba, making stepping stones, a lamp, and a bench engraved with the qualities of friendship. I have a high regard for freedom, justice, and democracy.

As a person who strives for perfection in all walks of life, academically and as a person, I believe that I would be a great contributor to the already excellent chapter of National Honor Society here at Lake Travis High School. I have always been a high achiever academically, setting high expectations for myself and even take outside of school classes on Mandarin every week. Through chinese school, I have been able to not only learn the language, but also embrace my culture.
