Spanking remains a common, if controversial, childrearing practice in the United States (Gershoff, 2013). I believe that parents should be trusted with the freedom and responsibility of shaping their children’s behavior. If families do not have some form of discipline inside of their household things would begin to get out of control and become chaotic. So some parents choose to use spankings as a form of discipline. There are some cases that involve spanking and it leads to domestic abuse. When the parents spank their kids they often do not know when to stop and they keep going. It is good to spank but their is a fine line that should never be crossed but some parents cross that line and in their mind they think it is okay.
