At this time Black people were in-equal to White people and Martin Luther King was affected by this in his day to day routines. An example of the unjustness that Black Americans faced was when they wanted to eat at a restaurant then they had to sit in a separate section of the restaurant, or even when they wanted to buy shoes they were served at the back of the store.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a part of the civil rights movement because he believed that everybody was equal no matter what color they were. Dr. King did not mind going to jail because he know he was doing the right thing for his country. That’s when he wrote, “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.” While he was sitting in jail he made some good points telling the people why he in jail. In the letter he stated, “When I was suddenly catapulted into leadership of the bus protest in Montgomery, Alabama a few years ago, I felt we would be supported by the by the white church.”

The man who killed Martin Luther King Junior was named James earl Ray. The reason Ray killed Martin Luther King was because he hated him. Every one of the speeches MLK gave he despised. Ray was going through depression at the time; partly from lack of attention because he was the youngest in a poor family. When Martin Luther King started to stand up for colored people, it only made Ray’s depression worsened.

At this time, whites and people of color were segregated. Martin's father taught him to demand respect. Martin was a good speaker. He won a big speech contest in high school. Martin was smart, too.

His father was a Baptist minister, as was his grandfather, and Martin Luther grew up to be the third minister in the family. He was a bright and intelligent young man, being the valedictorian in his high school class, attending college, and earning a doctorate degree. Of course, Martin experienced racial segregation throughout his lifetime, which led him to become involved in the civil rights movement. Influenced by Gandhi’s actions in India, he led many peaceful protests, such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott, in hopes of ending segregation. Martin Luther King believed in racial and ethical equality, nonviolent protests, and love and peace.

Martin Luther King Jr. grew up in a secure family, with two loving parents, and two siblings. He found inspiration in his father, who fought against racial prejudice. King attended a public high school and was very intelligent able to graduate early to enroll at Morehouse College at the age of 15. Martin Luther King Jr. followed in his grandfather's footsteps and became a Baptist Minister. He went on to marry Coretta Scott and had four children with her.
