How Thomas Edison Changed America

As well as writing the Declaration of Independence and serving as our president of the U.S., Thomas Jefferson invented and improved many things that we now use that will help us and advance technology we have today. Many of Jefferson’s inventions are hard to determine whether he was the first one to invent it or not because he never patented his work. One of his inventions is a mechanical pedometer. A pedometer is a tracker used to count your steps in order to promote and motivate you to exercise more.

Henry Ford, in his early life, looked like someone who would make cars. In his early marriage Henry opened a sawmill to support his family and son. Many people know Thomas Edison, the great inventor of the light bulb, but did you know that Henry Ford worked for him? At first he was just an engineer for Thomas, but Thomas had his eye on the young Ford. In 1893 Ford was promoted to chief engineer for Edison’s Illuminating Company.

Nikola Tesla and his ideas, his beliefs that he could change the world gave him motivation, inspired him to work hard and in turn he accomplished alot earning him a place in history. Edison studied the light, power, and structure and became inspired to invent a practical incandescent lamp for everyday use, known as a light bulb. Many scientists practiced for years out of trial and error to invent a perfect bulb. After many fails of finding a fiber that would give a light bulb it’s perfect glow, Edison decided to use bamboo fibers. Finally he had created a bulb that would not melt. Even though Edison achieved his goal, that did not stop him from moving forward.

During the Gilded Age, workers were forced to work in dangerous conditions surrounded by heavy machinery. The rapid growth of the manufacturing industry created a great need for unskilled laborers who required little training and completed routine tasks with minimum pay. One of the most significant employers, the steel mills, often demanded a seven-day work week. Furthermore, seamstresses and factory workers worked over 12 hours a day for six days a week. Employees were denied vacation days, sick leave, unemployment benefits, or assistance for injuries suffered on the job.

He was the youngest of seven children and his mother was a teacher. Thomas Edison helped invent over 1000 inventions, some of which include the camera and the microphone, but Edison’s largest success in life was the recreation of the light bulb, in 1879 when he discovered that a carbon filament inside an oxygen-free bulb could glow (Science for Kids). Significance: The most obvious significance of the recreation of the electric light bulb is that people now had easy access to a light to use after the sun went down.

During the history we have experimented changes that prove the human evolution. Perhaps, we make history every day, but none of that can be possible without the brave people that change things and prepare the world for us in the past. This class opened my eyes to the ideals that every American should have, and how to stop the conformism that we still experimenting every day. The idea of commenting one topic of positive or negative impact is impossible because every event, good or bad, lead us to the powerful and free nation we live.

Group B – Question #2 Thomas Edison had huge impacts on the United States. Not just because he brought electricity to all parts of the country or because he created the high-powered phonograph, but because he also had an influence on the modern business world. Because of Thomas Edison the business and industrial realm were able to merge with science. In the United States, modern technology had an evident distinction between industrial America and the American home before Thomas Edison came into the picture.

Benjamin Franklin Through his efforts to influence and inspire the world, Benjamin Franklin led America to reach new heights that would eventually make it the strongest nation known to man. As one of the most involved men in the United States during his time, he managed to transform America and change it into the country its citizens love today. There are many ways that Franklin provoked the lives of the American people during his life. Even after his death, the whole nation carried on its motivation that was sparked by Benjamin Franklin.

For centuries immigrants have crossed from Europe, Asia, Africa and many more places to the wonderful, promising United States. America has been known for decades now as the place for immigrants to start fresh and make a successful life. As immigrants have been pouring in, some have been unsuccessful, while others had made their mark in history and changed America for the better. The topics of science, music, and entertainment all have been affected in America by immigrants. Without them, America might not be the same.

Over 37,000,000 immigrants come to the United States every year. But how much do they really affect America? People like Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, and Levi Strauss all came to the U.S from different countries and changed our world today. Without them, some of the most advanced technology, scientific discoveries, and innovative clothes wouldn’t exist today. The fields of science, technology, and fashion were positively impacted by immigrants.

Well, all this and much more was made possible by Thomas Alva Edison. Thomas Edison was a creative inventor that pushed the science world forward 100 years and had a major positive impact on his decade, the world, and even the rest of history. At the start of the 18th century, the beginning of the Enlightenment was upon America. There were many factors and people who help play a part in the Enlightenment or, in other words, the Age of Reason, some of the people that assisted the enlightenment was Thomas Jefferson, John Locke, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adam. Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio. He was the youngest of seven children born to Samuel Edison, a shingle maker and land speculator, and his wife, Nancy Matthews. For a brief amount of time, Thomas attended school, but was later home schooled by his mother. At a young age, Thomas was encouraged to read and developed a strong interest in reading, varying from subjects like Western history and general science.

Albert Einstein by Karin Ireland tells the story of Albert Einstein’s life. Albert Einstein was an incredibly smart scientist who was born in Germany. He made many observations including finding a flaw in one of Isaac Newton’s laws, a law about gravity pulling on things without mass. After many years of hard work and negativity directed at him, he finally became successful and famous for all his findings and intelligence. Albert Einstein was a very successful man for being inquisitive, intelligent, and devoted.
