The Russian Revolution is a turning point in Russia’s History. During the Revolution, the Russian’s free themselves of the autocratic rule of Tsar Nicholas II and established a Communist government. Although the Communist government wasn’t ideal, it was a step forward from the feudal rule of the Tsarist Family. However the question, “To what extend was the Murder of the Imperial Family justified?”, takes a different angel towards the subject; in which the I will discuss who far a murder can be justified. This is worth investigating as, the soviet government denied any association to the murder and even arrested 28 man; from which 5 of these men were executed for the shooting of the royal family and their entourage. However the telegram ordering the murder of the imperial family was delivered by Lenin's bodyguard2
There were three revolutions in Russia; one was in 1905 and the other two were in 1917. The revolution in 1905 had

Most of these unrests where about the government, whilst others just wanted a change in their daily life. The first revolution included peasant unrest, attacks on generals, worker strikes and the ‘Bloody Sunday’. This was “...the massacre in St. Petersburg, Russia, of peaceful demonstrators marking the beginning of the violent phase of the Russian Revolution of 1905.”3 This revolution resulted in the formation of a limited constitutional monarchy, the Duma, a multi-party system and the Russian Constitution of 1906. The February/March revolution in 1917 was caused the russian citizens wanting more say in the government and after the Tsar had closed down the Duma and went against the October Manifest the people rioted. The Duma also wanted to have a bigger part in governing Russia but after being
This angered the Russian citizens which led to the Russian Revolution of 1905. On January 22, 1905, approximately 150 workers were killed by soldiers who fired on peaceful protestors, led by priest, Father Gapon, in Saint Petersburg. This event was known as Bloody Sunday and signified the beginning of the Revolution of 1905. Subsequently, several radical groups formed an alliance and organized several mutinies and strikes against the Russian autocracy. Left with no choice, Nicholas II issued a manifesto on October 30, 1905 that granted more suffrage rights, got rid of arbitrary arrest without a trial, and provided for an elected legislature.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 marked the end of the Romanov dynasty and centuries of Russian Imperial rule. During the Russian Revolution, the Bolsheviks, led by leftist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin seized power and destroyed the tradition of czarist rule. Civil War broke out in Russia between the Red and White Armies. The Red Army fought for the Lenin’s Bolshevik government. The White Army represented a large group of monarchists, capitalists and supporters of democratic socialism.
The Russian people didn't like how they were being ruled so they rioted, but in the end their revolution turned selfish and greedy as Stalin rose to power. World War II is another great example of a ‘revolution’ gone bad, World war II was a mass killing of thousands all orchestrated by one man. Hilter was a vile man, who did horrible things to the Jewish, gypsy and slav people, even going as far as trying to hide what he was doing. Keeping the killing programs as secret as possible so the German people didn't realize how horrible of a man Hitler was. Only a few revolutions have made such an impact as the American Revolution, the Russian revolution, and World War II.
This is suggesting that it was needed to free Russia from Nicholas’s power, even though he had already abdicated. Although it is understood that the purpose of killing his family was to ensure an end to the Romanov reign, these murders were unjust because the entire family along with their help was killed as well. Nicholas II was a poor government figure for Russia, however death was the incorrect punishment. An alternative plan would have been to imprison the family to prevent the Tsar’s children taking over power rather than killing them. The punishment was unjust for the Czar and his
The Russian revolution resulted in the overthrow of the country’s monarchy and the establishment of the Soviet Union. It started off with many protests and strikes that forced Tsar Nicholas II out of power. As a result, a provisional government was put in place but it was weak and ineffective so the Bolsheviks took control and established a socialist government. The Bolshevik Revolution was caused by a combination of unstable and corrupt monarchies, unfair treatment of the populace, and a lagging industry, which eventually led to the creation of the USSR.
With no signs of the czar’s attempt to solve the complications, Russia banded together and filled the streets with strikes and riots. A revolution was peaking among the peasants. The uprising brought Nicholas ll no choice but to abdicate his throne. This was an opportunity
For even though they gained power, they controlled only the land between Petrograd and Moscow, which is a rectangular strip of land that was 30 miles by 400 miles big. Beyond this land there were many others who opposed the Bolshevik rule. The first task that Vladimir Lenin performed once in power was to withdraw Russia out of the First World War. Vladimir Lenin instructed his people to find peace at any price; this resulted in the treaty of Brest-Litovsk (this treaty was signed on march 1918). This treaty took away from Russia all the land gained since Peter the Great and it separated the Ukraine.
Both have had workers protest to a palace, in France there was the March of Versailles to the Palace of Versailles, and in Russia there was Bloody Sunday where workers stormed the Winter Palace. They both had a cluster of riots because of the increasing price of bread. A few differences between the French Revolution and the Russian Revolution’s radical uprisings are during the French Revolution, France declared war on Austria, and Prussia joined Austria, while during the Russian Revolution, Russia had a civil war. There were more panicked uprisings during the French Revolution because of rumors and the lack of technology for
The Russian Revolution, which was started by Lenin and his followers, was a rebellion that occurred in 1917 which forced higher powers to act to the needs of the lower class. For instance, many citizens were worried for their protection in consequence to the lack of survival necessities due to an early drought. Furthermore, their current czar during the time was incapable for his position as a czar and made horrendous decisions as czar. For example, when the czar, Nicholas, entered in World War I, he sent untrained troops into countless battles of failure which costed in mass amounts of lost life (paragraph 23).
The February and October Revolutions of 1917 produced a world that would be governed by Marxism and set the stage for an armed struggle that would shape the second half of the Twentieth Century. In the traditional telling of the history, the working class people rose up to remove the shackles that had kept them oppressed by the capitalists and the monarchy. However, Richard Pipes with the benefit of access to classified records contends that the Revolution came about because of a series of accidents that would alter the world and produce catastrophic results for the Twentieth Century. In his book, Pipes presents three why question of the Revolution and goes into each one individually. The Three Why’s of the Russian Revolution are; why did the
After the successful repression of the 1905 revolution, dissatisfaction with the political structure in Russia was high. The firing of the Duma, the perception of the Romanov rule as corrupt and inadequate, the disillusionment of the peasants by the Tsar with the rise of radical socialist parties and the backward thinking policies of governance were all prominent factors in the failure of the Russian political system to satisfy the Russian people leading up to the 1917 revolution. At the end of the 1905 revolution the Duma was put in place to give the citizens of Russia more of a say in how their country was run which threatened the Tsar’s autocratic rule. The Duma was dissolved and reinstated on 3 occasions by the Tsar but despite opposition
The February Revolution can be considered an instinctive revolution; during that period, Russian people were living in misery and relentlessness: food went bad in trains between the long transports leading to food shortages and mortality rates increased due to poor housing conditions. In the October Revolution instead Bolsheviks seized power from the Provisional Government. “The movement broke out spontaneously without preparation and exclusively on the basis of the supply crisis… The military either today or tomorrow will come out openly on the side of the revolutionary forces that the movement which has begun will not subside but grow ceaselessly until ultimate victory and the overthrow of the government”; this communicate was written by the Okhrana Report on the 26th of February 1917 during the first revolution. Things worsen during March of the same year when wages rose and Russia’s currency (rouble) totally dropped… food prices rose and the great majority of people couldn’t afford anything.
By doing this, they overthrown the poorly run government as the Russian people were in favour of a new system that would work in their favour. The Russian Revolution was triggered by the social, political and economic problems, that combined caused the Russian people to rebel. This Revolution was triggered by the poverty of the Russian people, the loss from the wars, the sneakiness of Rasputin and the failure of the Tsar, Nicholas II. The social causes of the Russian Revolution arose from centuries of oppression towards the lower classes.
Have you ever thought about the Russian Revolution or the Bolsheviks? Well the Russian revolution of 1917 consisted of two revolutions, the first in February in which the imperial government was overthrown. The second revolution took place in October and placed the Bolsheviks in power. The Bolsheviks (which is a Russian word for majority) were a member of the Russian Social Democratic Party which was led by Lenin who insisted that party membership should be restricted to professional revolutionaries. How was the provisional government set up and how did the Bolshevik revolution start?
Russian revolution started when Russia had to make to many changes that cause them to choose ideas that did not help and made some wrong choices. Russian revolution started in a hard period of time where the world war 1 was in 3 years into the war. Russia was in the war with a weak army and had many dead soldiers. Caused russia to go on a downfall and economic and many more problems that cause them to go that route. This period of time started to in 1917 this when Russia had struggles.
