Jackie Robinson changed the color barrier throughout the game of Baseball and the World in his time period. Robinson did this by breaking the color barrier in April 1947, Protesting his rights, and sticking together with many other Black Americans. Most Black Americans from 1919 to 1947 had dealt with Black segregation sometime in their lives which had consisted of not using the same restrooms as White Americans or not being able to use the same water fountain. This is complete violation of the 14th Amendment which affirms that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States are American citizens including African Americans” (Amendment, 14).When this is violated it is taking away the Life, Liberty, and the property as whole. We would later learn that he changed how the game of baseball should be played. We see what Robinson did when Simon says,

With what we know about Jackie, we know that he stuck up for what he believed in and showed it through the way he talked to people and his actions on and off the field. Jackie Robinson had dealt with segregation when he was in the Army. He had issues with the Discriminant Racial actions. As previously stated, he was ordered to sit in the colored section of the bus and he disobeyed that order. This clearly showed that he stuck up for what he believed in. Disobeying an order can lead to jail time or to get discharged right off the bat.

He had to go through a lot to get what he wanted in the end. Jackie Robinson was given the opportunity to play professional baseball and be the first African American to play in the big leagues. He wanted to play because he liked it and he saw this an opportunity to help other African Americans gain more freedom and to be treated more fairly. Even if he didn’t win the baseball game he would still be showing people that he was good and could control his temper in hard situations. He thought that would show everyone else that he isn’t different than any of them and he should be treated the same way they treat each other.

He was a big part in the fight for equal rights. Jackie Robinson took so much abuse on the field because of his race that it gave him mental breakdowns. These breakdowns sometimes took days to recover from but he went through all of that so other people would have better opportunities. But this didn’t just go on for one season, Robinson had to deal with that racism for about two years before he was really accepted as a “respected” baseball player. (Kuhn,web) and (Wilson,web).

The most recognized and probably the biggest thing he did was transform all sports through being the first African American to play professional baseball. This did not only stop discrimination in baseball but this helped stop discrimination in all sports together. After his impact on baseball he wasn't done there, he join the National Association for the advancement of colored people. He became the chairman for the freedom fund and later raised over a million dollars.
As Jackie Robinson once said “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives”. There is no doubt that Jackie Robinson has been one of most impactful baseball players to ever play the sport. For reasons such as pushing himself to reach his goals, facing many hardships, and being the first African American to play in the MLB, he has shown perseverance and been a role model to everyone. Robinson was born into a sharecropping family in Cairo, Georgia on January 31, 1919 (umass.edu). At 6 months of age, his father, Jerry Robinson, left the family in 1920. After this happening, his mother, Mallie Robinson, decided to move the family to a white neighborhood in Pasadena, California.” Manfred Weidhorn noted in his biography, Jackie Robinson,“Jackie was proud of his mother, who would not allow the white neighbors to drive her away or frighten her or mistreat her kids.
This allowed people to see that you didn’t have to retaliate in fighting and showed people that it was best to ignore. The treatment was so bad that Jackie Robinson was the most hit player in the league in 1947. By the end of the season he became a hero for all, and showed that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. He also was given the Rookie of the Year Award and made an appearance in the World Series. Because of his involvement in the Majors, Jackie Robinson made people start to question the “separate but equal” life.

In 1947, Manager Branch Rickey, of the Brooklyn Dodgers, signed Jack Roosevelt Robinson to play baseball on the Dodgers’ minor league team. From there, Jackie Robinson played his way to becoming the starting first-baseman of the Brooklyn Dodgers and helped lead the team to a division title. Robinson was the first negro ball-player to play on a Major League Ball Club, while this was an enormous accomplishment for all negro ball-players, it took its toll on Jackie. IN the horrid times of the Jim Crow Law one man made an impact to help stop racial tension, and that man is Jackie Robinson. One boldly stated example to show how Jackie robinson help stop JimCrow is, “The nation was divided at first. Many whites and nearly all blacks applauded the move and said it was long overdue. But a large number of whites, including many major league baseball players, objected to his presence.” This example boldly presented how Jackie was able to try and overrule the jim crow law and help overcome segregation, another example to prove how Jackie Robinson helped end segregation and end the Jim Crow Laws is, “Robinson 's action had repercussions far beyond the sports world.

Many people try to change how they are to fit in . In school kids try to act cool, making up stories about themselves. Even if they don't try to change, other still judge them for fitting in or not trying. This is a problem now and back in times when color people were not accepted as equals. With this in mind, a great example is Jackie Robinson for his struggle to integrate.
