Jim Thorpe’s is considered to be the greatest player of the 20th century from many people. He was born on May 28, 1887, with his twin brother Charlie Thorpe. His parents Hiram Thorpe and Charlotte Thorpe were mixed native American and European. So when Jim was born he was given a native name which was Wa-Tho-Huk which meant “bright path” which was correct for his future ahead. Jim and Charlie Thorpe were very close siblings. They did everything together, they fished, they hunted and they wrestled. When they were both six their parents sent them to a Sac and Fox agency school located 20 miles away from there home.Charlie was the academic student while Jim was more into sports. Thorpe and Freeda had four sons. In 1926 Thorpe played his final season of football with the Canton Bulldogs and after retired sports in general. Since Thorpe retired from sports he had to find other jobs since he had to feed seven children. He was worked in small Hollywood films but never got a play big enough for a stable job. He started to have a drinking problem and didn't have much after his sports career. In 1990 He remarried for the final time to Patricia Gladys Askew. They had one kid and Thorpe went on to become a motivational speaker and sharing his experiences and his love for sports. He also helped train the Israeli soccer team for their match against the U.S. In 1950 he was named Greatest Football player for the Half century as well as greatest Male Athlete of the Half Century. In 1953 Thorpe died of his third major heart attack in Lomita California. After his death, Thorpe was conducted to the hall of fame and the A.A.U. restored his status for the 1909-1912 Olympic wins. As well as the Olympics committee restored Thorpe's names back into the books and returned his medals back to the family. Lastly in 1999 U.S congress came to the resolution to name Thorpe athlete of the Century. Jim Thorpe's family history is rooted to Native Americans and their family was affected deeply in the Manifest Destiny and Kansas-Nebraska Act. These events forced Thorpe's family to give up their land. This led to Thorpe's family settling in America, and Thorpe was a sixth member of the Sioux Nation which is a confederacy of many different tribes. Both of Thorpe's parents were Catholic and a mixed race couple. His father, Hiram Thorpe, was Irish and Sac and Fox Indian descent.

Jim attended school at an all indian establishment in Pennsylvania, although he began his athletic career somewhere else. He began playing football and running track.
During an early morning, a kid had his test scores handed back to him for him to discover that he scored a 75% on an Algebra test. This kid had dread and disgust smothered on his face. Soon after, the kid would grow a desire to do much better on the upcoming finals, in which he studied from when the fiery sun rose until the mysterious moon would arise to brighten the night and all its inhabitants, just because he had the hunger to ace the upcoming test. The day of the finals arose as the kid felt ready to battle the final test for his Algebra class. The kid fought long and hard and would soon find out that he scored a 93% on the test.
Thorpe’s jump also earned him a spot on the school’s track team, and he was soon winning events in the high jump,
He had four siblings Matthew, Willa Mae, Edgar, and Frank Robinson. He was the youngest of them all. He was raised by his single mother. He went to Muir High school and attended University of California, Los Angeles. At UCLA he was the first student to win varsity letters in four sports; basketball, football, baseball, and track.
Thorpe let nothing stop him even if people were dragging him down he still strived for a greater and better future for himself and his race. When the team got to the olympics Thorpe blew away the competition winning the pentathlon and the decathlon setting records that would stand for decades, all the hard work and early and long training days paid off. To me Jim Thorpe is a hero and a legend, Jim was an outstanding athlete and man on and off the field. In 1913 his olympic medals were at high risk when the olympic committee found out he played 2 years of semi professional baseball.
He retired in 1957 with a career batting average of .311. Robinson died in connecticut in 1972 from a heart attack. Being the youngest of five children, Robinson was raised in a by a single mother. He attended john muir high school, and pasadena junior college, where he was an excellent athlete and played 4 different sports: baseball, basketball, track, and football. He was named mvp in baseball in 1938.
He excelled in sports in high school being a four sport athlete. He went to UCLA until he had financial struggles and had to drop out. When World War One started he became a second lieutenant but never saw contact. When the war ended and he came back to baseball he found a spot on the Kansas City monarchs. When Brooklyn Dodgers manager Branch Rickey saw him he quickly put him on his team and he played for the all white Montreal Royals a farm team.

While some believe that athletes should have their own choice at making a decision to go pro straight out of high school, they should not do so because they will not be able to manage their million dollar contracts respectively. Speaking of contracts, the NBA should eliminate guaranteed contracts for rookies drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. They should do this because a careless high school kid, could just go into the draft not knowing, or caring on how much they are going to make, with the lack of experience on handling millions of dollars. Frances is a field hockey player for her school team. One day, she got her report card and saw she got a C+ in Spanish. The next day at practice, her coach told her she was off the team--Even though Frances had been trying her best in Spanish. Frances thought this was unfair and ceased putting effort into Spanish. This is an example of how a child could be negatively by the No Pass, No Play rule.

Children should be able to be put in sport teams because most children play sports as a passion,and it not only benefits them with being athletic and healthy, It's also favorable to children because only its a game, it also teaches children morals, and life lessons.
