John Adams Father

He was elected to be the president of the Continental Congress and Governor of Massachusetts. These are only a few of the things that made John Hancock so important to the American revolution. John Hancock was born on January 12, 1737, in the town of Braintree, Massachusetts. His mother was Mary Hawke and father, John Hancock Sr., a clergyman. His father died when Hancock was just a boy in 1744.

“The Father of America,” one of Samuel Adams’ nicknames and even though he wasn't officially an American leader, he still got the name because he was the spokesperson for the rebellion. Samuel Adams was a very important figure in the American Revolution. Adams had large influence on the American Revolution including setting up the Boston Tea Party in 1773, being an organizer of the Sons of Liberty, and creating the Committees of Correspondence. Firstly, Sam Adams had a prominent role in the Sons of Liberty.

In 1742, his father died and Thomas Hancock, his uncle, later adopted him. He enrolled in Harvard University and received a master’s degree in 1750. After graduating, he worked for his uncles shipbuilding business. John eventually took over the business and became one of the wealthiest men in America.

After the shots being fired at Lexington and Concord John Adams was very sad because a friend of his was killed during this time. George Washington agreed with honor, to be head commander of the patriots. George Washington lead them them through cold snow nights and to an amazing victory against the British. John Adams convinced many people to vote for the declaration of Independence. This included Pennsylvania which was very hard to convince because the believed that they should not have to change their beliefs.

Before America could have any Founding Fathers, the country needed Sons of Liberty to stand up to the British government. These men harnessed the outrage that had spread following Parliament 's Stamp Act of 1765, which levied an internal tax on the colonies. Though the Stamp Act was repealed, the disagreement over "taxation without representation" wouldn 't go away, resulting in events like the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. Samuel Adams was not a very popular leader during the American Revolution and is known by many only by the beer produced in his name, but due in part to his efforts during this time period he should be remembered for so much more. Samuel Adams helped to lead many colonies, including that of Massachusetts, into an area that they had never been before, Revolution against their King and country. Even though historians have now labeled him as the “Father of America, many of the tactics he utilized would be very heavily analyzed in todays society, whether they were justified or not by the tyrannical government being imposed by England.
